@Idaho2018GTPremium you are correct, the gen 3 heads are superior as well. However, he was specifically referring to upgrades for earlier gen coyotes that don’t have the hardware or software for gdi plus a different cam phasing system.

That's a no brainer right there...

I was already expecting to use the 350 heads anyway..

*if* I'm gonna go down that path (havent decided yet), I would do forged internals, 5.2 heads, cj intake, 2" headers, compression and a proper E85 tune.

That 'should' take me to 550 wheel on corn.

I consider that the minimum to be competitive in what I'm trying to do.

(my other 2 options are Ecoboost, or switching platforms to 6th gen Camaro/LT1).

I'm hoping to make the case for the Coyote, but I'm not married to either option.




I wonder why the rep recommended Gen 2 heads? Gen 3 heads flow more and have slightly bigger valves, and they are stronger than Gen 2. From the Ford Coyote Technical reference:
