hey guys, ive had my 2015 GT for two weeks now. absolutely loving it.. i do have thuds.. and transmission seems very "heavy".. after about 300 miles, i started hearing a whine/whistle as i would accelerate in the different gears, mainly 2-3-4. from hours of reading on here and other forums, it seems "normal". can anyone advise if a Ford dealer will do a trans fluid swap for me based on prior issues with MT82? forgive me if this has been answered somewhere else.. i have not been able to find the answer.. many people recommend the fluid swap with the XL18 additive... i'm not really comfortable doing this myself.. any suggestions?

is my whine when accelerating normal?
i've read the heavy thudding is normal i guess..
can i get the new fluid changed out for free, or minimal costs (with the good and recommended fluid/additive) ??

thanks

I have the whine too. Did you figure out how to reduce the whine?
Sure did. I had a full exhaust installed. :headbonk:

Not really a solution, I know, but I'm fine with it. It's whined from day 1, so I doubt it's a serious issue. At least now I can't hear it. I'm pushing a lot of power through it now with no issues. We'll see in a few thousand miles what happens.

Talk to Ford Service or take it to your dealer. They can better answer your questions. Bottom line, though, is that they will only replace with Motorcraft parts and they will only do the replacement (for free under warranty) if they agree there is an issue.

Just posting to add to the survey like format here. I have a GT PP. I have some kind of thud, very notchy shifts, a slight jerk when the gear bites, and general feedback from the gearbox. I am a crappy manual driver but I've driven a few other manuals and didn't experience any of this. They were low hp cars though. Anyway, +1 in the concerned camp.

One thing that I've noticed is that if I double clutch when I first start out, and then shift normally after the car is warm, shifts are much smoother -- the thud is always there starting out from a protracted stop though.

Add me to the list of "Thumpers"! Got my TY GT Premium with PP a few weeks ago an have noticed the thump from day one. Will follow this thread to see what happens with this issue.

Hi Guys, took delivery of my TY GT last WEdnesday morning. It has the thud but so did my '09 Subaru Legacy. The exact same thud, in the exact same circumstances that all of you describe. And its drivetrain is still working like a champ after 180k kilometres (111k miles). So I'm not worried, yet.

Note: I'm here in Oman, we get a weird GT Premium with random options and without others. We have some PP things, almost all Premium things and that 50th anniversary-type fake gas cap.

So no one tried the 1PC DSS DS?
We installed the DSS in our S550, we did not notice a thud when shifting before/after install.

Add another 15 GT PP to the Thud list. I have 3300 miles and believe it has gotten worse. Anyone tried shifting with clutch completely pressed in while car is in motion? I can get a slight grind in 1st through 4th gear without even letting clutch out. I also have high RPM lock out in 3rd and 5th.

I am right there with you guys car has around 6k miles and thuds 1-3 pretty good. Like posted above me mine will thud with the clutch pressed it and going into gear without even releasing the clutch.

With the clutch pressed in wait just a tiny bit longer before putting it into the next gear and see if it stops. Also try to avoid pushing down on the shifter, only try push horizontally when changing gear.. seems trivial but the mt82 tends to be alot notchier and thudier if shifting palm down rather than side arm. Usually I only use 2-3 fingers on the front of the knob when going 1-2 or 3-4 and use the base of my palm on the back of the knob when going 2-3 or 4-5, no part of my hand ever touches the top if the shift knob.. only the sides. I noticed a difference when I avoid shifting with my palm face down on top of the knob
