Hey all,
A little over 500 miles on the car now, and I've yet to master a low-drivetrain-stress, manual (no LC) launch. I was a pro in my Focus ST -- feathering the clutch for a fraction of a second, just a wee bit of wheelspin -- but every attempt in the GT seems to wind up with the car bogging down. What's the secret?

Have you turned off TC or unplugged the nanny plug on the driver’s side front fender by the airbox? Try that and let us know if that eliminates the bog for you.

I've tried turning off TC, and AdvanceTrac. Still bogs down.

Locate this plug next to the airbox and unplug it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just so I know what I'm getting into, what will this do?

Disables all of the nannies, TC, Advance Track. I ran with mine unplugged for months and it was convenient for track use. No issues, or anything, it just disables all of that stuff, so you don’t have to remember to do it. I’ve heard that turning them off in the car via the switches doesn’t completely disable them, whereas that plug does.

Does the ABS and steering mode still work ?
Anything on the dash lit up like a Christmas tree ?

I don’t recall that being an issue, but I will unplug it and confirm it for you tomorrow.

It’s been over 6 months since I plugged it back up, right before the car went under the knife for tranny work.

try the line lock see if that works. Something doesn't sound right. I turn TC off on my '21 and I can make all kinds of smoke.

Get a tire with a taller sidewall, that will allow for some crunch. that helps with launch. I have a 315/40/19 and I launch at 3K rpm’s with very little wheel spin on the streets. If I went to a well prepped track I think I’d get 0 wheel spin.

I use the factory launch control in the track apps. No wheel hop or abuse, and just a little bit of wheel spin when you launch at 3000rpm.

Here’s what I get on the dash when the nanny plug is disconnected. Disregard the Hood Ajar warning because the hood isn’t completely closed.

Thanks, Adrian. I'll give that a try a little later in the week.
