I've owned both and will give you my insight if you want to DM me, but in the end, its just another opinion and yours is what matters the most. The biggest hurdle you'll face is the difference in price.

I had a 13 GT Brembo brake package with the automatic. I loved it and almost wished I still had it, but the PP2 is MUCH better handling.
I thought about trading my PP2 for a Mach 1 HP, but only for an automatic. Then I started seeing all the issues with the 10 speed plus there was the extra cost, and my PP2 was paid off. I know my car's history and it's nice knowing it's low production numbers make it kind of special.
If things had been different, I would loved to have a Mach 1 HP over the PP2. It's just not worth the expense to trade for a little gain.
Get a Mach 1. You probably can't find a PP2 anyway.

I know one guy that has a PP2...green...really rare car but you also have to know what you are looking for to even know if it is one. Wish the Mach 1 non HP had come with a 305 all the way around option...I have the upgraded wheels that look the same as the PP2 wheels but the staggered size is less convenient. To this day I still think that is the best looking wheel Ford has done. The Mach 1 HP wheels look great but are a pain to clean.

Get a set of LMR SP2's they look almost identical to the PP2 wheels, are lighter because they are flow formed, come in multiple color options, and are available in 19x10 and 19x11, you can run a 10" square setup, an 11" square or go staggered.

Yeah, the PP2 looks like any other GT for the most part, but when you take all the Mach 1 stripes and badges off a Mach 1 it does too.
Only from the sides. :like:

As stated, a PP2 is just a GT with standard magneride, a manual MT 82 and a wider wheel and tire option. If someone who optioned their PP1 with Magneride added the wheels and tires to it, they'd basically have the same car.
The Mach 1, especially the HP is on a whole other level. The Tremec for those who optioned a manual, but all of the fluid coolers, and unique chassis tuning.

Not to mention the engine from the Bullitt. It's essentially the highest optioned S550 apart from a GT350R. It is essentially a 350R without the voodoo and the CF wheels. And even then, the Shelby doesn't get the auto rev match or digital dash which gives you more info, and I've even heard the programming for the mag ride on the M1 is more advanced than the Shelby. A lot of 350's didn't even come with most of the options on the Mach 1. So in my opinion, comparing a PP2 to a Mach 1 isn't even apples to apples. Especially on track. The GT's don't have the endurance capabilities as the 350R/Mach 1 on track. 2 laps on road Atlanta at full pace in my friend's GT PP1 and the diff was overheating.

With that said, if there is a $20k price difference and you don't think you'll ever exceed the limitations of the PP2, and you actually found one, it is still a fantastic car with great capabilities.

The Mach 1 has a completely unique front end, unique wheels, and the rear valence from the GT500 along with very unique exhaust tips. Taking all of the stickers off would of course make a big change but we are talking stock configurations here.

I didn't include the GT 350 or 500 because they do look different from the front side and rear. They also have different engines even though they are based on the Coyote.
As for the Mach 1, it's front end looks like a 2015 to 17 front end. It may be different, but very few could spot the difference. Same goes for the rear end and valence, but try to spot it as it goes by at road speed. The wheels on the Mach 1 HP are the same size as the wheels on the PP2, 19x10.5 F, 19x11R; they just have a different design. Tires are 305/30-19 square for the PP2 and 305/30-19 F and 315/30-19 R for the Mach 1 HP. The wheels on the Base Mach 1 are 255/40-19 F 275/40-19 R which is the same size as the PP.
Another thing people get wrong or won't acknowledge in the difference between the PP and the PP2 is the suspension. The springs and sway bars on the PP2 are heavier and the magnaride is tuned to those parts. Yeah the radiator and brakes are the same, which is different from a GT, but there are differences between the GT, PP, and PP2.

The point I was trying to make with "they're all the same but different" is that they are all Mustangs, but their packages make them different. The GT is a good start. The PP is a little better handling. The Bullet has a little more power. The PP2 borrows from the PP and the GT 350R to get even better handling. The Mach 1 and Mach 1 HP borrows something from everybody to get the best street and track car without going full race car.
Again Shelby's don't count.

Honestly I'd get a Mach 1 or a PP1. The PP2 was just a stop gap to try to make a 1LE competitor. The biggest difference is the wheels and tires from PP1 and standard magnaride. I'd just get a PP1, 19x11 SVE SP2's, PP2 front splitter and different springs and sway bars versus paying the premium people want for used PP2's. If you're going to track get a Mach 1 as it already has all the coolers.

And if you get a magneride PP1, Steeda sells a recalibrated MR control module and the mapping is better than any stock ford module ever was.

I don't believe I saw this mentioned, but the Mach 1 has the functional rear undertray/diffuser from the Shelby cars as well. I don't believe the PP2 has that. I've also read that the PP2 has a quicker ratio steering rack, although I haven't been able to find a lot of good info about it and I don't know what the Shelby cars or the Mach 1 have.
