Does anyone think fitting a 305 all around on the mach1 HP rims would cause an issue to drive in snow because of the tire being too wide. I was thinking of getting a tire like 4s and hoping it would do the job

I have 255 and 285 on my current stang with continental all seasons and i have no problems driving in the snow with them. Just little confused it the extra width on the tires(305s) will make it slip more in snow

I didn't think about it having that wide of tire. They say narrow tires are better so you could get another wheel/tire set. I already have one for my current stang, but the fronts don't fit my 16 without spacers so I've just been using the rears the past couple winters. No problems to this point. Not sure if they will fit on the mach 1 or not though. I know if I get a Challenger, esp the WB, it will cost a little bit more for a winter wheel/tire set as I'm pretty sure I would have to get 20's instead of 18 or 19's for the stang and will most likely to use spacers to move the wheels out so it won't look like crap.

*Ideally*, you do not want to have a rim like the Mach 1 HP rims as winter tires, because they are slightly too wide, as a 10.5" wide front and 11.0" wide rear, fitting 305s stock.

Even if you stretch say a 285 over the rear, too much rim edge will be exposed and you can damage it real easy.

After a certain point, too wide a contact patch and the tire acts like a plow, instead of a knife, being able to carve through and drive through the snow, as opposed to pushing it, when a wheel is too wide. That's why typically, at a certain width of summer wheel and tire, you size down for the winter setup.

Also, when you say 4S, assuming you mean Michelin Pilot Sport 4S? Those are definitely not winter tires; they're also not all-season tires either, those are considered summer tires, and are absolutely not suitable for snow, not only because of the tread pattern, but the tread compound. If temperatures are low enough, the compound can crack.

Get another set of cheap wheels, you surely don't want to get corosion and damage from salt on the HP wheels. I know firsthand how aluminum wheels suffer in winter... Then you can put proper narrower winter tyres on them.

Yea i think getting a separate set of winter wheels and tires makes more sense than messing up the HP wheels with salt. Thanks for the advice @Charlemagne @cmxPPL219 @Medsport

Were you able to find a set of wheels that fit? I'm looking for a wheel set for winter tires as well. Only winter tires I've found with compatible sizes are the pirelli sottozero 2 at 295/30R19. We don't really get much snow where I am but the temps are in the 20's and 30's in the winter. Therefore I'm not interested in downsizing past 295 width.

I like the gt350 (2015-2017) wheels but not sure if the different width and offset of the SVE350 or MRR350 (19x10 et40 or 19x11 et50) will fit in the front since the stock HP front is 19x10.5 et24. The 19x11 et50 should fit fine in the rear since the stock HP wheel is 19x11 et52.5.

10.5" all around would be preferable but all the replicas i've seen so far only come in 10" or 11"...

If you dont have much snow why not an all season tire?
Cooper makes a 305/30x19 Zeon RS3-G1.

Due to past experience i’ve actively avoided all season tires. I’ve only ever purchased one set of all season tires (continental extreme contact dws) and they performed poorly while wearing through in 3000 miles. I also grew up in the northeast where all season are absolutely useless in the winter.

Now that I live somewhere where i haven’t had to drive in the snow in 3 years I’ve lived here, I may have to consider UHP all seasons for the winter.

My issue is still finding a 10.5” wide wheel I like that will fit since all the replicas seem to be 10” or 11”
