I recently bought a 2022 Mach 1 at an auction. From what I could tell, the car had only minor damage, with all airbags still intact. However, when the car arrived, I discovered the oil cooler was broken behind the bumper, and the engine was completely dry, which was obviously concerning.

I replaced the oil cooler and added the necessary oil. When I started the car, I immediately noticed a misfire in the engine, accompanied by error codes P0340 and P0345. I tested the camshaft sensors and even swapped them, but they appeared to be working fine.

Next, I performed an engine compression test. Bank 2 showed around 255 PSI across all cylinders, but Bank 1 was a different story. The first two cylinders on Bank 1 registered 0 PSI. Unfortunately, my battery died before I could complete the tests, leaving me with more questions than answers.

So yea looking for some insights and ideas

If engine was dry - who knows how long it was run that way….

Despite the chain issue, I’d definitely pop the oil pan and start checking bearings…

Is it? Sorry I must have read something wrong.
Good luck OP.
Not that I'm trying to imply you're dumb, but I'm curious where you saw it isn't? I think there are many cam profiles where it's not but full lift/duration and it will strike out of time I'm pretty sure

This is a 12/1 engine. There is very little extra space in the combustion chamber at tdc. I believe this is an interference engine.

The car is pretty new, If there isn't structural damage I would definitely go and fix it.
At most is a partial engine rebuild and some cosmetic damage.

Well update on this. the no Oil caused this and made the Cam got suck which broke the chain.
till now by the test I have done only 1 valve was bad. But I am replacing the whole head with new valves and cams just to be sure. ( piston heads have been checked and they were good. the thing is they the car was started but not driving which I think is why my pistons are ok)

That's a lot of metal to go through the engine. Hopefully the mains are not damaged.

Was this a joke?! I thought coyote’s were most definitely shrapnel producers upon timing failures.
Nope, not at the time. If you read the thread you would have noted that I said I read something wrong.

As an aside, the OP lost a timing chain and didn't damage any pistons or lock up the engine despite trying to start it. Guess he got lucky, huh?
