Nope, not at the time. If you read the thread you would have noted that I said I read something wrong.

As an aside, the OP lost a timing chain and didn't damage any pistons or lock up the engine despite trying to start it. Guess he got lucky, huh?
You’re right, I should’ve read.

He did get lucky as far as the damage presented! I would still want it torn down for sure.

not a warranty claim most likely.

The oil cooler break is caused by an impact. a hard enough lip, curb, pothole, etc, in the Mach 1 and put the tire into the oil cooler, break it, and drain the oil. happened to a few people so far that I know of.

Yes, I was wondering the same; because with the damage seen to the cam, there is definitely metal throughout the engine. The other head should be inspected and the oil pan should be removed to pop bearings and inspect those….

If the engine was run without oil due to the cooler being damaged from XYZ event, there’s more than a single cam that went “dry” and was wiped…

I don’t know why there’s a focus on “top of piston heads”, when the top of any piston could look good, but cylinder walls and anything below them could be damaged…. Gotta open that engine to see the whole story then determine course of action and expenses to repair before replacing just 1 head. I would pull all bearings and make sure the crank isn’t wiped as well. Definitely check the crank snout sprocket too while you’re in there as they are known to get chipped teeth and crack too (plus more the reason to definitely check with a timing chain failure).

Hopefully the auction amount paid has enough wiggle room for not only repairing the body damages, but the cost of engine repair too. Coyote or not, these engines aren’t little pushrod 302’s - they’re somewhat complex with very tight clearances, many more internal passages, oil squirters, many more internal parts, etc., and parts are not “cheap” (at the moment because the platform is still fairly new).

Post an image of the vehicle if possible.
