Never even considered the GT. It had nothing to do with insurance or affordability. I fell in love with the original SVO when I was a teen and when this came out, I had to have it because it brought back those memories. I do agree though it would have been awesome if it were marketed as a Capri RS...with a single twin tip exhaust! I love my car. Yes the exhaust sounds like crap, blah blah blah. I don't care. And, I'm sure I'll love it more with the Vargas Stage 2 turbo. I have no GT envy what so ever. But the GT350....that's a different story. That might replace my Ecoboost when I'm ready for a change....

Yep, I'm with you on that one, too. Loved the SVO...wish my first car (a family hand-me-down, '84 T-Bird V6) was a Turbo Coupe

You and me only. They are exceedingly rare these days...no one thought them worthy of saving  Too many of them died untimely deaths, because I don't think many car owners in the 1980's had a good grasp on how a turbo engine should have been treated compared to a normally aspirated one, and the EEC IV computer didn't do as good of a job of protecting the turbo as the current ECM does.

I didn't buy this car because it was a mustang, I got it because of the turbo-4 / RWD setup, for a great price. It's annoying how I have to explain about the engine all the time thou.

Coming from an owner who traded their 15GT for the 16EBM premium I have 100% have to say I have had zero problems with doing so, they are both purpose built models, if you commute at all the EBM is the way to go hands down, its lighter, handles a little better and takes less effort overall to drive it daily. It is not GT.

Now granted I just put $6800 into my car this spring, whole new turbo setup, cooling, bottom end etc. and its easily as fast if not faster than my GT was stock. I however feel both cars are summed up as the EBM is a road car, the GT is definitely a Grand touring car, and a strait line monster till you work on the track suspension stuff.

I love both cars, and to be honest I drove the 3.7L and I liked it too, its very smooth running, has a great exhaust note, more than enough power but they fd that car not giving it more options, but you can get bigger wheels, and 3.55s as an option and fog lamps, sync, etc. Just no perf pack, electronics package, leather etc....

I love my EBM its sneaky. =)

I learned a long time ago to steer clear of the EB vs GT threads on this forum. A vocal minority of GT owners seem to have a problem with the EB, the problem is theirs not mine. I couldn't be more satisfied with the turbo mustang.

I'm not talking smack about Vargas or say that I know everything about the company, but something one of the big tuner said that sticks in my mind, I'd these things are untested long term, and just increasing the size of the parts inside the turbo housing doesn't necessarily mean it's the right move.

I find the notion that a Mustang has to have a v8 ludicrous. From 64 to 72 the base engine was an inline 6, from 73 to the end of Fox body production the base engine was a 4cyl and since it has been a v6. These versions of the Mustang have always out sold the performance versions.

The stage 2 is a whole new turbo. And there products work well on the many bmw's that use them. I'm willing to try it atleast for the price. I can't think of any problems that could come from it.

U sure a whole new turbo? The selling point is that it can pass for factory turbo except if they opened it up, and second these are not bmw's. Again no offense, what's tried and true on one platform doesn't mean it's on the other

Yes the stage 2 uses Vargas' own housing for both inlet and exhaust. The stage 2 looks stock but a trained eye will spot the plain compressor housing as opposed to the writing cast on the stock housing. Only the stage 1 is undetectable unless you look at the turbine wheels.
