It is what I'd call "Rowdy" (in the way a 4-banger turbo should be). I've been noticing cruising windows down the past few days (since the weather is beautiful) that you get this nice low rumble from the stock exhaust at idle and low engine speed that you can't hear with the windows upWhat engine note? I'm thankful that this car is so quiet. Makes for a funny situation when I smoke other cars.

It is quiet.. that's part of the problem. The only engine noise you get is the awful ticking from the DI which makes it sound cheap somehow.. :(What engine note? I'm thankful that this car is so quiet. Makes for a funny situation when I smoke other cars.
I actually agree with you.. when I first turn on the car or accelerate slightly from idle it sounds awesome.. very nice low deep tone but it disappears instantly Lol. If it could sound like that all the time with no rasp/Honda fart can sound, it would be awesome. It is what I'd call "Rowdy" (in the way a 4-banger turbo should be). Also, not sure what the difference between the '15 and '16 is, but in my new car, I occasionally here the turbo whining under acceleration (which I didn't hear in the old car). I'm 100% stock at this point.... I'd love it the most, though, if I got the full turbo sound trackTempted to put a CAI on, just to hear the turbo...
Same here, turbo whine, air sucking, BOV popping off. Between the intake and my exhaust it's a symphony!!Weird that you can't hear the turbo with the mmr. Mine is insanely loud with the map cai.
Loved those SVOs as well and if Ford would have offered a SVO ecoboost option I might not have gone with the GT350. Don't get me wrong, the GT350 is in a Mustang class of its own.Never even considered the GT. It had nothing to do with insurance or affordability. I fell in love with the original SVO when I was a teen and when this came out, I had to have it because it brought back those memories.... But the GT350....that's a different story. That might replace my Ecoboost when I'm ready for a change....
Yep, I'm with you on that one, too. Loved the SVO...wish my first car (a family hand-me-down, '84 T-Bird V6) was a Turbo Coupe![]()

The GT350 makes a great and very fun daily driver! If you can excuse the gas milage ;). Though I do get the advertised 21mpg on the highway.....
BTW i probably would trade up to a gt350 if it was a direct swap because the gt350 has alot of character with that flat plane v8. but i would probably be forced to find another daily. Not sure how the gt350 does as a daily.
... And called it the SVO option!!!I wouldn't be surprised if Ford dropped a twin turbo engine in this car down the line.
.This is my first Mustang. The only 2 cars I though about buying were the EB and 370Z. A comparably equipped Z was not worth it, especially with the outdated interior. ake.
I hear the induction and blow off, but don't really hear the whine of the turbo spooling with the MMR.. do hear it a bit with the stock air box tho.Weird that you can't hear the turbo with the mmr. Mine is insanely loud with the map cai.
From my understanding, an exhaust or even a muffler delete makes the turbo whine much more prevalent.. I'm considering doing a muffler delete but don't want to be ricey considering it's bone stock and I have zero intentions of tuning it.. maybe get an IC at the most.Same here, turbo whine, air sucking, BOV popping off. You will hear the induction of air coming through the turbo. You get the exhaust whistle from deleting mufflers. I have the mmr intake and its awesome to me. Its super loud even with the recalculation pipe connected which is how i still have it. The blow off noise is so loud without it vented to atmosphere i just left it alone.I hear the induction and blow off, but don't really hear the whine of the turbo spooling with the MMR.. do hear it a bit with the stock air box tho.

I do like the ecoboost, still feel the need to start modding but overall if you put the car is S+ it becomes a total different animal IMHO.@Spoolin
Those of us that came from other turbocharged cars love this platform and can appreciate what it is.
People who bought it because it's a Mustang will never be happy because it doesn't have a V8. The Mustang is the Iconic Pony car and that also means it carries lots of baggage. If Ford had given the car a different grill and tail light, and called it the Capri there wouldn't be anywhere near the negativity. The only negatives on most reviews are that it doesn't sound like a V8 or should've gotten the V8 which implies a negative bias going in and the car will never get a fair shake from a purist. But my favorite line from this article rings true
I highly recommend you read that to see an example of what a non v8 biased review looks like.
Great article Notes thanks for sharing it! Posted on my Facebook!I do like the ecoboost, still feel the need to start modding but overall if you put the car is S+ it becomes a total different animal IMHO.
I came across this review last night on FB, and I kinda liked it despite the negative comments from either purists or non mustang owners :-)
