Hi everyone,

I'm looking at a new GT and have tried searching around as bedt as a could before starting this thread, but still have a few questions

1. Axle Ratio - manual comes standard with 3:31, is the 3:55 option worth seeking out? This will be mainly my fun car/DD. not going to the track and my chances of going to the strip is about 1 in a 1000. Bigger chance of driving the car in the rain and snow.

2. Options - is there anything you did regret getting on your car option wise?

3. Anything else to consider? - my current Mustang is a great car but trying to address the things that make it truly fun for me, again for me - Auto, I find myself fighting the auto or anticipating a downshift and it doesn't happen and sometimes does without expecting. It also see,s geared to race as quickly as possible to 6th gear. Great for commuting, not for fun.

My solution to #3 is manual of course and if I am changing want to do it correctly.

4. Premium - besides price is there a must have? I like leather but I can add that for much less. Only other thing is the drive modes but don't know how much that is worth paying for.

Thanks in advance guys. The forum has always been a great source of help.:headbonk:

3.55 has a better seat of the pants feel than 3.31. That said, 3.31 gives you a pretty usable first gear and better highway fuel economy.

If you never intend to do any real high performance driving, I'd get a base GT with the 3.55 axle. I personally regret not getting the Perf Pack, but I do autocross my car. The premium is nice but not worth it to me. Adding leather later is cheaper, but you won't get the heated/cooled seats in the base, which is a necessity, IMO, with leather.

Thanks BmacIL, do you drive yours in the winter?

I can add heat to the leather as well. Cooling jumps it up but had leather before without cooled seats and I lived with it fine.

There is a car I'm looking at that is a base in the color I want but 3:31. 3:31 sound good but 3:55 mo' better. :D

I want a goofy smile I can't wipe off every time I get in the car and not worry about what if. One thing though is if the 3:55 is great fine only when it's perfect weather, Chicago weather changes by the minute....

I do drive mine in the winter. I put Blizzaks on it, and it gets around just fine. The 3.31 does help manage traction a little better when it's slippery. That said, I get the smile every time I drive mine with 3.31. In the real world there won't be much difference as you just have to shift more frequently with the 3.55. The pull is stronger in each gear, but it's not night and day. Test drive and see.

Getting the color you like is a more worthwhile thing, IMO.

I went with a base GT and used that 4K for mods. If you have some DIY skills you can really stretch that budget and get a pretty bad ass car. Something that stands apart from the sea of stock stands out there. Aside from the the 5.0 emblem and grill the EB looks identical to a GT. I'm guessing you are wanting to upgrade since you want more out of your car and tired of hearing oh it's a 4 cylinder.

Right now I'm just a little over 4K into mods and stuff and here how she looks now

When I lived in the Chicagoland area and was driving around for 12 years in my Grand Prix GTP the best option I got on the car by far was the heated seats, keeps your bottom nice and toasty on those bone chillin' winter days, lol.

Well I got the color picked, exhaust (ARH). And just want to make sure on the gear since I feel the AT 3:15 was not much fun...

It's tough to find a 3:55 in stock to test but I guess I could look at test driving a 3:31

Part of my thought is I know I can use that money for better mods. Exhaust being one. I'm thinking the power will be enough initially for me to focus on other mods. Awesome wheels and great looking ride!

Same here, on both.

Cooling doesn't really work unfortunately as it is supposed to. Work nicely on seat bottom, not really on a seat back.

I have a 6 spd with the 3.31. Personally I think the 3.73 would be too short for a dd but looking back I would have went with 3.55.

Get a GT w/Performance Pack, base or premium depending on your situation.

I DD a premium '15 GTPP for two years and loved that car to death. It was an absolute blast to drive and always put a smile on my face.

As someone who came from a manual GT and traded for an auto, get some good seat time in both to make sure you love the transmission.

I got the base GT with auto and 3.55 gears, like the feel and performance. Currently adding leather, not to much of a need for heated seats in AZ. Still looking into what mods interest me. Mostly stock, no regrets.

Premium was worth it to me, If you just want the leather seats it's not a huge issue or cost to add leather, but the Premium comes with a lot of other features which aren't necessarily needed but are nice to have IMO. I like the switches, lighted door sills, puddle lights, heated/cooled seats, Sync 3, ambient lighting, blind spot monitoring, etc. If it wasn't my daily driver I wouldn't care as much. A lot of the compliments I get from non-car people have to do with the puddle lights, ambient lighting, and those non-performance things. That being said I would take a base GT just as quickly if the deal was right.
