Guys going to laguna, your best bet is an unlimited DB day. Those days usually has the bad ass track cars out.

This is why I prefer sonoma, wider track and smoother transitions, no DB restrictions!!!

Btw, depending on the event, laguna has a roving sound meter.
Sonoma does have sound restrictions they're just quite high, 103db. The sound meter is on the infield building prior to turn 11.

Unlimited sound days for an HPDE are far and few between at Laguna but if you can get in one, definitely jump on it.

That's what I'm trying to avoid. I don't like it when they make a bunch of noise after I go to bed, so I try not to make noise when I think they might be sleeping. Most people around here have at least 2 acres, so there's not much anonymity.

Can't avoid the loud fireup, though.
I absolutely love the way the exhaust sounds when it's all opened up. But, I have to admit, that normal mode is very welcomed. I also use it around the neighborhood and near the office.

I've only heard of db ratings in sonoma maybe once. I've done a few track days there in a shifter kart since 2007. And once in my straight line cruiser harley.

Unlimited days are few and far between (and typically not cheap)
Either let out when you're within the vicinity of the booth, pay up on LS restricted pipes or pay for an unlimited DB day.

Another option ive seen on a mustang is getting pipes that turn and face towards the left side of the car. Lol, I've seen it on a 5.0 and an NSX.

Most of them? Cats have to be near the engine, so they are either right next to the engine or the transmission.
Talking about that, has anybody tried installing shielding between cats and tranny !

Well most have pretty good heat shields, I think the only reason we are talking about even more shields here is that its a possible way to get a little more margin without spending thousands on a full cooler setup for the transmission.

So lots of talk about tech or track cars.. but. If car enters limp mode, what does it take to clear the code?

My car arrives in a week so i don't have access to manuel yet.

It won't trip any outward facing code that we can tell. You won't get a CEL or any other message. Normal operation continues once the transmission temperature goes below 280F.

Uh, Laguna Seca has a 90db limit most days. That's lower than what a lot of sports cars are stock. It's one of the more sound restricted tracks out there.

Track/Tech/Base cars are all going sound the same so no need to segregate them in that statement.
I have done a bunch of track days at Laguna on my pretty much stock GSXR, with a stock pipe and after market with a quite insert. I blew anywhere from 91 to 97 on the throttle there. The sound check is in between turns 5 and 6 under the bridge so just ease up on the throttle there and your fine to go WOT the rest of the track. I did the rest of my sessions there no problem using this method. Just an idea you can try.

Just can't get enuff!
Btw besides an insert in the manual... this is also found in the Owners Supplemental Kit (the huge box/gift that each of you will get).

Note the Note... now we also know why they NB'd this: :(

My greatest concern is obtaining limp mode on the autobahn. I hate this worry.

I doubt very much that will happen. On the Autobahn you will be cruising in top gear going straight lines, with lots of airflow going into the car, not taxing your engine, transmission and differential in heat like on a track.

8 threads and a sticky, getting silly now. Do those writing realize, all the forum
members know about this issue, repeating it in 8 threads, only hurts the forum.
Does not solve the problem. Maybe spend your time sending 8 emails a day to ford.
I actually support those in search of a solution, but this is making the ADM threads
look calm.

I for one don't want to bug Ford with a call, letter or an email and waste their time. Ford knows about the issues and they know how the owners feel. If I don't hear anything from Ford before the time I first get to the track, then I will find out if I have the issue. If I have the problem with my car, then I will go to Ford.

I come and post here for fun and to vent. Sorry if you feel I am wasting your time. You could just avoid all the threads that are about tech/base cooling issues if you'd like.

I think bickering about whether an issue is an issue is the thing that hurts the forum the most.
