You don’t want to know
Some member from the other site has stated that he spoke to a FP agent who said Ford is looking into this.
He said they are aware of the problem and are trying to find a solution to retrofit coolers to base/tech cars.

Engineers said the electrical will be the most challenging part.

That's all we know for now. Here's hoping for more info soon.
This is essentially the same discussion I had with FP about a week ago, without the specific reference to retrofitting coolers to base/tech cars. However, I have no doubt that Ford is taking this situation seriously.

Oh - I think I mentioned - I wonder if they can lower the teperature sensitivity at which the car goes to limp mode. Actually, I'm certain this can be done - I guess I wonder if they will consider their built in margin and a reflash could potentially put all of this to rest?
Was hoping it could be this easy. I'm surprised someone hasn't put an odb app like torque or dash command on their cars and logged some tranny temps.

In one of these threads, a person mentioned using an Ngauge to log the transmission temps. I thought he said that the limp mode kicked in at 280 degrees. Someone else said that seemed reasonable since 280 was where the "red zone" started on the track pack transmission temp gauge. Based on that one datapoint it wouldn't seem to be an algorithm issue. Would certainly be nice if it was though.

Also, the Laguna sound issue is a well known inconvenience to all who track there but isn't really anything that I'd expect a manufacturer to design around. It's just frustrating when all these manufacturers with active exhaust valves don't actually give you a way to fully control them. GM, Porsche, Ford, all have systems that automatically get loud under certain conditions. I would love it if these companies would incorporate a mode that would always remain quiet, and adjust the other parameters to allow that to happen.

I agree with that. I leave my car in quiet mode in the morning when I go to work, but right now I also have to creep around going easy on the throttle and keeping the revs down. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to have a stealth mode. The loud exhaust can call a lot of unwanted attention.

That's what I'm trying to avoid. I don't like it when they make a bunch of noise after I go to bed, so I try not to make noise when I think they might be sleeping. Most people around here have at least 2 acres, so there's not much anonymity.

Can't avoid the loud fireup, though.

Of the top of anybody's head, are there any other performance vehicles who's cats are so close to the tranny?

I wasn't aware that other cars do it as well, if that's the case I'm guessing it's needed for the car to make full power. At these Hp levels I'm guessing any reduction in sound also comes along with some reduction in power.

You're a taxpayer and a great American, they should be appreciative of this glorious alarm clock.

I know that some people have burned out their NPP systems by forcing them closed on hard use. Laguna sucks for all the wrong reasons.

Guys going to laguna, your best bet is an unlimited DB day. Those days usually has the bad ass track cars out.

This is why I prefer sonoma, wider track and smoother transitions, no DB restrictions!!!

Btw, depending on the event, laguna has a roving sound meter.

Most of them? Cats have to be near the engine, so they are either right next to the engine or the transmission.

Unlimited days are few and far between (and typically not cheap)
