I am not exact on chassis # but I think it is around 1600 or so.
Interesting....Base versions don't have the chassis number mounted above the glovebox easily seen from the driver's seat? The chassis number of your GT350 hasn't been etched in your memory?

The base does have a chassis plate. My build number was 1119. Went out to take a pic and waiting for it to pop up in email so I can upload. Don't know if you are being sarcastic or questioning the validity of my ownership?

It just seems that everyone who owns one of the new gt350's has had at least one problem whether fit and finish, engine issues, limp mode, spacers in or delivery damage. Granted I think these cars should be closer to be exact with no issues but again these are as hand assembled as an American car gets so some of this is expected.

Good details crazyfish, interesting that when I ran the whole track in 3rd gear I didn't experience limp mode. Only in sessions where I used 2nd gear did the car go into limp mode.

Thanks Crazyfish. Your statement just kinda stuck out to me as a bit unusual in these parts...Appreciate you adding to the conversation. Congrats on your positive track experiences!

Hi Schultz that may be the difference. 2nd gear generates more than 3rd and 3rd more than 4th and so on. That may be it.

My 2 best lap times which I got yesterday from Autobahn were 2.99:43 and 3.01:11 and my first at 3.17:08. So definitely some improvement.
Also my engine oil temp never went over 240. No trans readings on base

I got about 400 miles on my base car ( chassis # 3610 ), and have driven her hard at times and haven't hit limp mode on the street .
Weather is pretty warm right now ( 90-95 ) and seems mine's not taking any oil at all so far
Car is great and draws attention quite a bit, but i'm fine with that.

So far i've had driver's side rocker panel replaced under warranty since mine had a stamping defect from the factory.
They also fixed a dent on the hood using PDR.

My only concern is that annoying rattle under light throttle in 1st and 2nd gear at aroung 1800-2500 rpm. It is bugging the crap out of me. Mine's pretty loud compare to two buddies of mine who owns 350's as well.

Dealer ran a faw tests and contacted Ford's hotline and said it was piston slap.

Don't know if i should escalate to higher level.

I didn't notice until a friend pointed it out. Is this the painted plastic rocker behind the drivers door?

I'm referring to the black textured part of the rocker. Not the painted section that's attached to the car.

FYI I wasn't using second and I was also short shifting into 5th rather than winding out 4th but my car still went into limp mode.

With these cars who knows because I did have a friend of mine who had the track pack go into limp mode. 2 things they found that contributed to the problem. Bad thermostat and early pcm programming. It was fixed and now he runs every other week on a track somewhere with no problems.

I also think every car is different as well as every driver which creates different and inconsistent results. Hopefully my next track runs will yield good results as well. I still feel coolers would be a nice addition for car longevity.

One thing I didn't mention after my track session is those tires must have gotten so hot that I have a billion of little rocks embedded into them and now they look like some are permanent. any suggestions?

Mine had a bit, could only hear it if the exhaust was closed, but now its either went away, or the car is warming up to fast to notice. I also removed resonators so it could be masking it slightly. I don't spend much time at all below 2600 rpm tho.

I don't think there is much you can do. I drive my car at least once a week. After my track sessions I noticed that after normal driving the debris works it way out of the rubber. Guess what I am trying to say is drive it and the debris will come out on its own.

My car also has quite a bit of noise around 1800-2500. I haven't taken it to the dealer - not sure they'll do anything.

As another post said, I can only hear it with the exhaust valves closed. It hasn't gotten better in over 1600kms. I'm not 100% sure it's piston slap.

The last engine I built was a forged Honda with SRP 9:1. That thing slapped until it warmed up. The mustang doesn't sound the same.

That said, I got my car on ramps and poked around everywhere to see if anything was loose under the car. All was good there.

This might have been discussed already, but, it seems like Ford's response (and some GT350 Track Pack Owners) to the track limp mode has been, "Well, if you wanted to track your car you should have gotten a Track Pack." Now, with people going into limp mode on the freeway, or at locations off the track, I do not think that argument holds water ( My Cousin Vinny reference). I think Ford owes Base and Tech model owners free coolers or upgraded trannys.
