I'm driving a '21 M1 with 20,000 miles on it. 3/36,000 warranty will expire next year. Regularly serviced, never abused, and wondering what a reasonable expected lifespan will be for it. What's driving my inquiry is I'd like to keep it for many years and wonder when I can expect to see it start to deteriorate (i.e. need repairs). Given that the new generation of coyote powered mustangs are around $60k, it makes sense for me to keep what I have versus pay the current price for a new one. Anyone have any opinions or first hand knowledge of how these 5.0 mustangs hold up as they age?

I traded off my 2012 coyote powered F150 with 280,000 miles on it. It ran 14.1 @ 92 1/4 mile times.

They hold-up as well as you take care of them. And that's true for everything.

There's Mercedes taxis in Germany with 1,000,000,000+ miles on them. Of course damn near the entire car has been replaced over time, but a car can last as long as you're willing to throw money at it.

It's a modern car with a proven engine design that tolerates FI well from what I've read, thus likely very robust.

Overall, I think you'll sell the M1 to get a new shiny car before you have to sell due to ongoing repair costs getting out of hand.

2020 GT w/ A10 nearly 60k miles. I beat the snot out of her and she’s still strong as 1st day. Tuned, headers, stock intake tube/manifold.

If you take care of it and fix the things that need it, WHEN they Need it, it should last the rest of your life.

If you don't? The engine will fall out at about the next oil change.

any machine free of defects will generally last as long as the mechanical sympathy of its operator allows. there are things on these cars that are weak, the engine is not one of them.

As others have mentioned, take good care of it and it will last a long time. Anything mechanical has a chance of breaking but these are pretty stout motors. You’re still within the window to buy an extended warranty if that helps put your mind at ease as well.

@MachNroll This is the one to start with: https://www.floodfordesp.com/

While I was pretty confident in the Cyclone, with my Eco I did decide to get the ESP. For mine, it rang up at $825 for 6 years, 60k miles and I was able to apply my Ford points to it too.

I’d suggest Granger as they are a sponsor and have terrific pricing.

I had a V6 before my GT and I agree the Cyclone is a very reliable motor. I’m still debating whether to add an extended warranty to the GT. I might do it just for peace of mind but more for all the other electronics in the car. I’m not concerned about the Coyote.

It's the cosmetic things and interior that will fail first! take good care of your leather interior if you have it. seats and carpet usually go first.
