No problem learning in a Mustang. Idle produces enough torque to start moving without giving any gas. Perfect for learning on, just watch out for second gear.

The newer ones you can let clutch out and motor automatically revs up a little.
And that make a huge difference for learners when they do not have to operate 2 foot pedals concurrently.

I have been driving manual for years Nd my 2015 GT is a pain in the ass to drive smooth lol. Got the spring which helped a little but its still very hard to feel engagement. Transmission sometimes locks out for no reason and hill assist with 6 piston brembos makes a strange hill take off.

In my opinion there are much easier sports cars to learn manual on (vw gti, subaru sti). But if you want a mustang you can do it. Just expect some bucking for awhile until you get the hang of it. And even after haha.

Still loving the v8 powa though.

I started with a 68 GTO in 1970 (after a 15 minute lesson in a VW Beetle). This 19 GT is probably the easiest clutch to master that I've ever encountered.

This! I taught my wife how to drive my manual 19 GT and it was very simple due to this feature. She was able to slowly let the clutch out without worrying about giving it gas at the same time to get moving. Taking off is what I find usually intimidates new manual drivers the most and the newer mustangs remove that intimidation factor.

The wife unit learned to drive manual on our S550. Now she's a pro. Go for it!

You’ll be fine. Go for it. Here in the U.K. we just live with the fact that manuals are the way of life.

By the time I was 16, I had years of experience on dirt bikes and 4wheelers, so it was an easy transition. However, my first vehicle was my dad’s old 73 Ford truck that was geared so low it was nearly impossible to stall it. I can see a newbie having trouble learning on a mustang. A friend of mine has manual GT and he stalled my 350 the first time he drove it.

My 2019 GT is one of the easiest manuals I've ever driven. I was the only guy who could drive stick in an auto shop I worked at when I was 18, so I've driven a good variety. It's just one of those things that clicks. I say go for it. The coyote's power band makes it very friendly if you're not laying into it.

The OEM spring is a bit of a pain, but swap it out for the Steeda unit and go for it. A big parking lot and a half day is all you need, or at least that's all my kids needed.

I don't see this mentioned often so I'll quote you again. It's a great point. I'm not sure what year this started but this feature is one of the reasons why this car is so easy to drive for a stick. It even works up inclines as long as you don't dump the clutch. It'll save many a new driver from burning their clutch.

Honestly one of the hardest I’ve learned to get down. Once you do though, it’s just like the rest!

I thought it was just idle air control at work.

Pretty soon the car will do everything and all you'll have to do is tap a switch on the back of the steering wheel.
Oh wait...

Siri, shift to second at 7,000.

Siri: that's Alexa's job.
or
Siri: I don't know what's wrong. Try again later.

Hey Google, shift to second at 7,000.

Google: You got it , slick.
