I have a 22 gt 10 speed and im considering turning off the adaptive learning have any of you guys had it off for a long period of time with no issues? If you did have it off and had to take it to the dealer for any transmission issues did they notice it was off and wouldn't cover transmission issues? I read through mutiple forums about turning off the adaptive learning and for the most part ppl say they have no issues after turning it off but there is nobody that i have seen that has went more than a couple thousand miles with it off.

I’ve thought about switching it off on my 6speed because the car shifts worse as it “learns” the shifting rpm. Let us know how it goes

I honestly don't believe there's any reason to deny any type of claim because you turned off an option for the transmission to try and "learn" the driving habits of whomever is driving the car. It is not changing or altering the way it is intended to shift and turning off what seems to be an option.

I've never even looked anything like this up before. I'm guessing you use a scan tool to do this or is there a weird shift procedure to disable it?

If you have a good relationship with your dealership, you’re probably ok. If your dealership is a PITA, they can look to see that you messed with it in Forscan and deny a warranty claim. That is technically altering the trans programming from stock so some dealers will deny solely for that reason. The good ones will take a more thoughtful approach and determine if those changes actually caused any transmission issues (likely not).

I am not questioning whether any particular dealer can deny a warranty, but why would they? They get paid by Ford for the repairs, so it is just more service work for them.

Could be several reasons. It’s extra paperwork and approvals they have to get from Ford, so they may not want the hassle. Could be a difference in pay rates between warranty and non-warranty work. Could also be that they see someone’s been messing with the car via Forscan and they don’t know what else might’ve been messed with and don’t want to deal with it. It’s amazing some of the reasons that come out of some dealers for denying warranty work.

I personally have had nothing but positive experiences with the two Ford dealers I go to, but there’s plenty of examples of the exact opposite
