Hi guys. I have a 2017 performance pack GT and I’ve had BMR min drop springs on it for ages now. I love the stance.
Recently I’ve been thinking that the rear end feels too floaty through high speed bends and bouncy over fast undulating roads. I use it as a fast road car, not a track car.

I have no issues with the front end at all.

looking round I see loads of people recommend the frpp shock kits, but that’s 4 shocks and £800+ here. I figure I can get away with just upgrading the rear shocks. Which for me narrows it to koni sport (twin tube with adjustable rebound) for £300-380 or Bilstein B6 (mono tube non adjustable ) for a similar price. Viking and other brands are not available.
Have any of you tried a similar set up? Can anyone report on the koni or bilstein ?

The Bilstein B6 shocks and rear shock mounts (Steeda, in my case) got rid of the rear bounce. In my opinion, I believe that a quality aftermarket rear shock mount upgrade is vital in order to get rid of the rear bounce by eliminating deflection that the stock rear shock mount‘s rubber bushing allows. So, if swapping out the rear shocks doesn’t give you complete satisfaction, try replacing the rear shock mounts with a quality aftermarket upgrade.

Thanks for that reply. I’m edging towards the Bilstein b6 over the koni yellow due to the mono tube design. I suspect the frpp parts are probably made in the same factory….. keep reading bad things about konis leaking etc. Plus there is a discount on here for the Bilstein shocks.

I want to stick to the stock mounts if possible as a while ago I saw a post about aftermarket mounts ripping the body shell mounting nuts through the steel plating after hitting a pot hole (probably on much stiffer coil overs) . The stock mounts provide a sacrificial weakness in the system to prevent this and the body in this area isn’t that tough.

I think you’ll be good with Bilsteins. Seems like a lot of people use B6s with very good things to say. I have B16s all around and that definitely got rid of all floatiness.

As of now, I am only using them in the back. When I finally get my GT350R springs for all four corners, I will get the B6 front struts.

I have Koni adjustables and it’s pretty clear that at some point the back stops being yeeted into the sky as you turn up the rebound.

Dumb question time... Is that the stock shock mount or a different item? From my reading there is a FRPP top mount available with a different sized hole in the centre for FRPP and other after market shocks. Before buying the B6's I want to know if they will work with my stock 2017 PP mounts or if I also need to invest in a different mounting solution. Many thanks

Also, the B6 rear shock rods are little over 5mm thicker than the stock pp1 shocks. Just FYI..
