I agree it's suprising this happened at this power level when many are making 800 whp plus and tracking regularly. Hell Lethal is trapping at 150 mph with their unopened motor.I can't believe the bottom end damage at the power level you're at. I know anything is possible when you add to these cars but your power level is "conservative" to what most are running in here. The first thing I think of when I read these is "tune" but detonation is usually the cause of destruction when it's tune related so that's out.
Curious to know why the rod bearing went unless you starved the bottom end for oil or over spun it or something.
Will follow to see what becomes of this. Good luck man.

I'm with you guys. I have seen cars make way more power and Torque than me and turn well over 7000 with no issues.I agree it's suprising this happened at this power level when many are making 800 whp plus and tracking regularly. Hell Lethal is trapping at 150 mph with their unopened motor.
THIS would be enlightening. Whole new element to this saga.I'm with you guys. I have seen cars make way more power and Torque than me and turn well over 7000 with no issues.
I called a pretty reputable shop about an hour from me. We talked for 45 minutes about everything that I checked and everything that happened. I'm going to have it towed up there. He seems to think it's something tune/piston related and not rod bearings. They're going to be the ones who fix it so maybe I'll have a different diagnosis next week.
He wasn't saying its a bad tune. He specifically said that Lund is good at what he does, and I won't say anything bad about Lund because I was/am satisfied with the tune that my car had. he just wanted to say all of the possibilities that it could be without knowing until they start testing, That maybe somewhere something happend and caused the car to run lean, somehow detonation occurred and cracked a piston crown, just saying other things that could cause that knock, just like you're saying too. I could get there and he might confirm that it is in fact a rod, or find something else. I won't know until they open it up.its not the tune.....
like i posted in that whipple thread, everyone wants to blame the tune when an engine goes.
Lunds tunes are on the conservative side.
When our block let go, we exceeded the design of the block at around 900rwhp when the cylinders egged, as they do at that power level and pushed through the water jacket.
dozens of passes and dyno pulls and lots of miles at that hp level and never hurt a piston, rod, or anything.
oil pump gears could have cracked, many possibilities, but it's not the tune
This is what I'd think as well. Something else hurt this motor besides the tune.its not the tune.....

And I agree. I just stated what was told to me. He went from "most likely to least likely" to cause the problem. Nobody's perfect and strange things happen. I 100% feel it is some sort of mechanical issue that caused the problem that I'm having as opposed to the tune. The car ran like a champ since the day I had it put back together until now. My "slightly inclined mechanical abilities" only go so far. I'm tapping out and letting the engine builder handle it, and I'll post the results when I get themThis is what I'd think as well. Something else hurt this motor besides the tune.
Hoping for the best bro!! :cheers:And I agree. I just stated what was told to me. He went from "most likely to least likely" to cause the problem. Nobody's perfect and strange things happen.
