My sales guy told me if I lose it, they would charge me $200+ for a replacement.

I have no idea where $60 came from as that's unrealistic.

you can program up to 8 keys to the car I think. Instructions are in the manual.

I bought one of those. The instructions to reprogram it is in the manual. You do need both original keys in the car to program the 3rd one though. At least that's what the manual said. My 3rd one works fine but getting the small physical key cut might be a different problem. A local locksmith said they can't cut those yet.
I know this doesn't help the OP, but maybe others can be proactive and grab a third key.

Same here I once broke a key to one of my cars and learned that never again will I pay $300+ for a key so I was proactive in setting up an extra key to give to the valet or service guy

All of the keys I can find on ebay are for the auto trans (extra remote start button). I don't really care if there is an extra button on the remote that I can't use, but I'm don't know if it will work for my manual trans. Anyone know if this fob can be used on the manual trans cars?

As info, pretty sure all USA Mustangs use 315 mhz. (my car's key, USA 2015 Ford Mustang definitely says 315 mhz on it)

Euro and/or other models may use something else.

I bought a third key for my automatic at the Ford dealer for $159.00. They offered to program it at no charge. I had one fob with me and the tech programmed the new key through a laptop computer. Price did not include metal lazer cut key inside the fob.

The key fob costs $159. Most dealerships will charge an additional $100 for programming. To replace the physical key inside is another $50.

Ask me how I know.....

Price definitely varies by dealer.

Got a quote from Fairway Ford in OH (I don't work for them. They have a large online presence when it comes to Ford parts)

$145.00 including Priority Mail for the FOB to a Mustang GT Manual shift (no remote start), but that did not include the metal backup key.
Metal backup key is an additional:
$15.00 uncut or $27.50 for it cut to your VIN #

And because I am not local to that dealer I have to program the key myself or pay a local dealer to do it.

I have a request in to another dealer to see how much they want for the same thing.

It pays to shop around if time permits and it's not an emergency.
