So, Its been a little over a month with the AFE Pro Dry S and I figured I'd give a little bit of a review.

Throttle response definitely improved over the stock filter making the car feel more submissive when you stomp the pedal.

I wouldn't say it made the car feel any more powerful, at least nothing I can notice.

My MPGs have gone up by .5 since the install (Getting 18.5 MPG). This has occurred during a time when I am doing a lot more spirited driving now that the weather has gotten better up here in the north east. Makes me think that a person who already pushed their car a lot or is more economical already will see bigger gains than me.

Filter is still clean and the fit and finish has held up perfectly. No problems at all with the car or the filter since installation.

All in all I'd say the price is worth it for the convenience and the slight MPG boost. This car is my DD so I've had a lot of time to evaluate its initial performance. We'll see how its still doing in a year or at my next oil change.

My next step is to pair this filter with an AirRaid intake tube.

Anyone have a link of where to buy the AFE Pro Dry S filter for the GT?

Afe also offers an oiled version for maximum performance. I went K&N . Just installed this weekend. It is an improvement over the stock filter. There is more air flow , a little HP gain. 1-2 HP, max. The K&N will stay in the car a long time, hence savings on those paper filters. Afe is also better than stock. Its preference. They also have an oiled filter too. :headbang:

Put a K&N in my Fiesta and a year and a half later MAF completely fried from contamination...didn't use much oil after cleanings just thin coat.

I know I'll never use one again in my cars.

Unfortunate. I've had K&N cone filters in one of my vehicles for over 120K miles and its still going strong at 165K miles. Another in a vehicle for over 60K miles and its still going strong at 85K miles. Of course I never over oiled them when I cleaned them either and I let the sparse bit of oil dry a good long time before re-installing. Sorry for your bad luck.

Got a K&N panel drop in with my Airaid modular intake in my Mustang right now. So far so good. (knocks on wood).

Since I live in the desert and want fine filtration from sand, I won't use K&N in my dirtbike nor in my GT.

Did you notice a difference when you added the intake tube? Worth getting?

It is nothing I can feel. There may be a tiny bit more of induction noise as well. The only thing measurable is that my IAT's will hang around 3-4 degrees above ambient air temperature while cruising instead of 4-5 degrees and it seems the IAT's drop a bit faster than with the stock air tube and filter. That and the fact it looks better and rid the engine bay of the ridiculous helmholtz baffling clutter is worth it to me. I will get a tune at some point and it should help there as well.

From reading around when I had my 2011 GT, the K&N drop in filter actually HURT performance with a just a stock tune if I remember correctly. I ran one with E85 and a tune on that car and ran a 12.2@114. On my S550 I have a tune, the K&N drop in and the Airaid CAI tube, and I gutted all the cloth/garbage/fins in the upper and lower stock air boxes that are suppose to quiet down airflow (slow it down) as well as cutoff that funky box thing that is on the top of the inlet tube right behind the radiator that feeds the air box and sealed that up too. I'm sure there are better CAI set ups that will flow more air, but they cost $400+ new and $275-$300+ used. I have $170 and a dremel cutting wheel into mine.
