Anyone had this happen? Shifting, fairly aggressively 1-2 heard/felt a clunk, then no clutch/power. Slave cylinder was recently done, and it doesn't seem to be that. I can put it into gear doesn't go anywhere. Still needs clutch pedal to be put into a gear. Car will bog down a little if put into 5th or 6th gear. I might hear a little growling in those gears, but the car is super loud so I'm unsure. Clutch and slave were done 3 years ago about 12,000 miles ago. Exedy Mach 500 with Exedy slave. The slave went out one month ago replaced with OEM at dealership. Now this. I don't think it's the slave, it seems like the slave has gone out on every single manual I've ever had, so I know what those symptoms are and how to drive it when broken.

The clutch is fairly new mileage-wise, and the MT-82 is known garbage.

When you put it into gear and rev the engine do you hear a grinding sound?
Don't rev too high. Does this noise go away if you push in the clutch pedal?

Re-reading your description it does sound like you broke an input shaft or a pinion gear.

Hardly. I ain't easy on mine. 60k, original clutch/slave/trans. All still perfect.
easier to blame the trans the the driver I guess.

Anyways what year ? 18 ? Shift forks.

While that sucks, a half shaft is much easier to deal with than removing a driveshaft and tranny. Were you on factory tires and experiencing excessive wheel hop when this happened?

Glad to hear that the MT82 held up to rough treatment with no problem. Good luck with the axle replacement. Are you going to a stronger axle?

Ford Performance half shafts are very beefy and can handle some pretty good abuse. I’ve tested mine several times with 7K+ rpm launches off the 2-step on 305/45/17 Mickey Thompson ET Street R radials.

nope. this thing is now sitting next to my evo which has it's engine torn apart. gonna get a stock, have too much going on at the moment. just paid a dealer 2K for that slave cylinder job (happened 12 hours from home), and got a trip to japan coming up. $2000 axles gonna have to wait if ever.

It seems like you have a solid platform everywhere else and are set up to make great power. Good half shafts would just be icing on the cake if and when you ever decide to install some.

So looks like the MT82 wasn't "known garbage" after all.
Just because mine didn't break, doesn't mean its not known garbage.
