While we’re discussing aftermarket drivers and their impedance I’m hoping someone will know what the power output if the stock amplifiers are for the different systems. Base, 9 speaker Shaker, 12 speaker Shaker? I’ve been trying to find out fir a couple of years but no one seems to know.

Geeze ................... What Ford should have installed to start with. The JBL's are so much better.

For those that have done so, is it worth changing out the parcel shelf speakers ? If so, what is the degree of difficulty?

They are not worth the hassle to change and don't bring anything to the table in terms of sound quality. Change only if you need a few more decibels for more SPL.
Mine are disconnected and the car sounds great.

NO, not worth it. I did that on my track pack also, I wanted best sound quality I can get out of the stock amp, without adding too much weight, i.e. subwoofer.
Guess what, I heard almost no extra improvement ; but I already had changed the door speakers.
Due the thick parcel that sits on top, and the fact that they hit in the window directly, I think it's not worth it.
The only way you could squeeze performance is to put a low pass filter on them and install a little amp and get some bass out of them... I thought of that but gave up, Infinity speakers provided good bass... Not excellent, but good enough considering what it was before.

Cheers

That was my thoughts. Would it be worth to:
1) remove the parcels and just upgrade the front and rely on the lower door panels for base and the subwoofer, or

2) keep the levels on a low pass and pull the subwoofer.

Did you simply cut one wire at the speaker terminal on both speakers ?

I looked today. Getting them out would be a major cluster f**k! There is only one way I can see to eliminate them. Cut one wire or, take a pencil tip soldering iron to one lead and pull it away from the tab it's soldered to.
