Likewise.....I've never had a car with any of this type of tech, never even had a car with a USB port:lol:.....no idea what it all does and I suspect I'll be in the same position the day I come to sell.....

Reminds me of a friend buying a camera.....
Me: Have you bought the new canon??
Him: no it's only 3MP so I'm going to wait for the new one

New one comes out 5MP

Me: Are you getting that new 5MP canon??
Him: I was going to but I hear there's a 7MP due next year

New 10 MP comes out

Me: what about that new 10MP camera then eh, you going for it
Him: Had a look, but sales guy said a 12MP is due any time soon....

I gave up in the end but I suspect he's still waiting for the latest MP upgrade:crazy::crazy:

BTW Sync 2 is fine. And the DAB way outperforms the Audi and Merc cars that I have compared it to. And you can change your wallpaper, which you can't in Sync 3.

The Mustang Sync 2 is OK'ish but I do have a couple of small niggles

1. Changing from DAB channel to phone for streaming requires scrolling down a list which needs too many button presses. All I need is 2 BIG buttons RADIO 5 LIVE and PHONE.

2. If I switch on and my Spotify playlist over Bluetooth from my phone automatically restarts then the list plays but the Mustang Sync 2 does not update with the current track info. If I stop and restart Spotify then it is fixed. Of course this could be a problem due to my phone.

3. The Mustang Sync 2 DAB reception for Radio 5 Live constantly drops out but for my 2012 Focus with stubby aerial the DAB reception for Radio 5 Live is 99% spot on.

My only worry would be that you can still get Radio 4 on sync 3.

I'm sure you'd be able to listen to The Archers on catch up!

I'm sure my car (on it's way from Zeebrugge to Southampton) I'm sure the window sticker said Sync 3 - so do all 2016 builds have this or an error?

There is a small box on the window sticker stating that this may not be standard equipment for the selected country. All window stickers say the same. We won't be getting sync 3 until the MY17 cars are being built, so will be later this year.

There is a big difference between waiting for a new camera or phone that will be outdated within a year and waiting for a major new in car entertainment system that will last the cars lifetime.

I for one think a few months wait outweighs being stuck with Sync2 well into the 2020's.

I'm 26 and a professional computer programmer/developer with more computer parts in my room than a branch of PC World - I'm as far removed from a technophobe as you could possibly get and I, too, don't give a s**t what software is running on my centre stack.

Can I bluetooth my phone to the stereo? Yes? Guess I'll never look at the stereo ever again for as long as I own the car unless I get a new phone and need to repair the bluetooth

The Mustang Sync 2 is OK'ish but I do have a couple of small niggles

2. That's just a phone thing. My Dad's iPod does it with Nissan Connect and my Samsung does it with Kia's system. Bluetooth is always a bit finicky with playlists.

3. That's based on the aerial rather than the system software. Changing to Sync 3 wont stop it from dropping out. You've always got AM/FM anyway which, from what I can see in countless cars, is far more reliable than DAB. Hell, my Sony Hi-Fi system drops DAB stations at times and that's stationary in my own house! :p

Well then you won't give a sh*t if it's Sync 2 then, in fact why not request a cassette deck?

you will at some point be able to buy an aftermarket sync 3. Probably can now as a replacement part. Cancelling an order to wait for my 17 will cost you at least £500 depending on when you ordered so why not stick with it and put the£500 in a slush fund for a sync 3 if you really can't get on with a sync 2? It's a different head unit bit I can't believe there are major changes apart from that
