There are still some details I'm waiting to find out about the Sync 3 system, but as an Android user my opinion is that having Android Auto and Sync 3 is definitely worth waiting for.

Like with so many early Smart TVs whose netflix apps have long since stopped working, the Sync2 is a proprietary Ford platform rather than an open standard platform. In a few years if ford can't be bothered to support the latest Spotify API changes, then the Spotify functionality breaks. If I'm using Spotify through carplay via my phone.... well, there's a better chance that spotify themselves will keep updating and supporting their app for a big platform like android than some comparative niche platform like Sync 2.

Same for everything else on it. Android Auto gives me the possibility that long after ford have gotten bored with updating their old gizmos I can still get up to date navigation, media and other apps. Meaning the car I buy, I can be happier with for much longer.
Sync 2 is Microsoft based - Sync 3 is based on a blackberry OS with support for Android - can't see Ford stopping upgrades for Sync 2

Is there specific Sync 2 built in Spotify integration? I stream my playlists from Spotify and I do see the tracks announced on the Sync 2 screen but is this using the Spotify API or just some generic Bluetooth streaming protocol?

Sync 3 really does appear to be a big upgrade.. It's not just the syncing with smart phone whilst driving but also whilst away form the car. I can't wait to be able to defrost my car from an app!!! Or starting the air con on a hot day from the app!! It's going to give me an extra 10 mins in bed on a winters morning. Delivery of mine I'm told will be October (fingers crossed) so sync 3 will be very useful. :clap2:
That would be brilliant, but will probably go the way remote start did for Europe i.e. you can't have it.
^^ this, i'm thinking. Is there not some EU legislation that prohibits remote operation of an unattended vehicle? That's before we get to the possibility of the car being hacked...
Regardless I bought the car to drive so personally I'm happy with the entertainment system it came with. Just imo...

Like the others have said, it's very unlikely you will be able to do any of that in the UK. And if it was possible it will only be available in the Auto cars.

Mine is due for delivery this September and the Vin shows a 2017 model, Etis and the window sticker state Sync3 so seems this will be fitted? Not sure what difference this will make over Sync2 but like the sound of more responsive capacitive screen:clap2:

Windows sticker means nothing. They always say sync 3.

When was it built?

If before June, then it will be sync 2

Are you sure about this? I can do all that on mine as have remote start
As for Sync 3, for me its very user friendly, I had a play around with the Sync 2 but for me this with the big 8 inch screen is way better
To connect a phone I am on Android is easy as pie, and as soon as you switch on the car, it fires up and plays what is on your phone. can even read emails and texts the climate can be set to auto, its a lovely piece of kit.
this might help you decide
It does last an hour

Yours is a US spec import, it'll have all that, the UK/EURO spec mustang's abide (unfortunatley) by EU regulations (For the next 2 years at least), and therefore cannot have all these apps/gimmicks whatever they maybe called.

As for Sync 3, welcome upgrade, different UI, better 'core processors' etc on the actual hardware front, but in terms of a UK spec car, not much more than speed, a couple of extra software functionalities etc to get from it!

And Apple Play or android auto still isn't out for it yet. Last I saw was it was going to be the end of the year for the update. I wouldn't be surprised if it never makes it.
Sounds like me waiitng for bloody android magstrip pay on my S6, that was meant to come when the phone came out :frusty: #TotallyOffTopic

Apple should just make Apple Pay open to developers. It's faultless and so easy to use.

Lmao, it is, but it runs off NFC replicating the NFC chip that Card's have in them, not allowing you to pay over ÂŁ30 per transaction. benefits of the Android Pay is that it replicates the Mag Strip on a card allowing it to be used at ALL terminals (even those without an NFC reader) and theoretically, shouldn't have any minimum spend, thus completely eradicating the need for cards full stop. (Samsung bought out LoopPay to do this)

ANYWAY, really, really effing off topic now. Better hide before I get killed! :frusty:

gimmicks?
you mean all the safety stuff?
The Euro cars could have them, its the money issue with Ford
its like today, parked in my 1st shopping centre, come out had a
suv one side and a nice big van on the other side, so started to edge out, very slowly, suddenly the car screams at me, the BLIS lights in the mirrors come on, and around 5 to 10 seconds later a car shot past my rear, doing about 30 in a carpark, now that Cross Traffic warning was brilliant, and is a brilliant safety aid as is the BLIS, as it also works on motorbikes and even have had it flash up for cyclists as they come past my door
Also the collision warnings is a good thing, yes you still need to use your eyes and be alert, but with the shopping centre in the pouring rain was a major help.

No, I mean the gimmicks sync 3 comes with, like the app support etc that maybe minimalistically used, not the BLIS, Collision etc stuff. The threads about Sync, not what imports have over Euro spec cars.Which yes, I agree, stuff like BLIS, Collision Monitoring etc is a god-send and I'm a little annoyed we don't have it - but it's part and parcel, and also nothing to do with Sync
