Echo Kristian87's words above, welcome to the process of taking ownership of a Mustang.

Back in the day , we had no idea of what we were getting, just blindly going into Ford dealerships, throwing a grand at them and committing to a £35k car. Not a demo to be found, first one I saw was after 6 months of waiting!!

Most of the early adopters had no idea what the colours would even look like in real life until the day of pick up, never mind anything else that came with the car. I think I can speak for most of the early birds by saying, it was instant attraction, if not Love . But for the tenacious few on here that mercilessly pressed Ford, dug up info from the furthest corners of the Internet and generally added to the excitement, we all would have went quite mad!!

Now it's relatively easy to go look at a colour/spec that's on offer from Ford and/or simply attend a meet. I'm genuinely glad to see that the process of waiting and anticipation is still there, enjoy that feeling, it makes the day you get the phone call to say it's arrived (most of the early folks were treated to a call months out of tune from when we expected it ), the day you go pick it up, the night before when you can't sleep, all the more special.

It's our little bonding process, that makes us all care passsionately about that hunk of metal on the drive, that mechanical menagerie of bits, that piece of Americana, aside from family, the most exiting and joyous thing we've experienced for a long while!

Soak it all in, you'll be a different person when it arrives

Welcome to the waiting game, I was quite late compared to the early birds picking mine up in Dec last year. I think I have done about 350 miles just running it in gently so its ready to be ragged in the spring. One thing I would say the waiting is just one (albeit huge ) part of the waiting game. Once you have it it will be waiting for stripes, tuning, springs etc etc. It will never stop. ..I am already waiting to see what the new 7th Gen brings at which point I will have one of them or supercharge this one for a laugh. However once you have it you feel almost bonded to the car given you have been waiting for it for months and months following its build / shipping etc. I think although its painful it actually helps you enjoy the care more when it arrives

I think the wait gets worse. For the first 7 months I tried not to think about it.

Since it was built it, it has been a daily update check on ETIS and once that is finished updating, a daily check of the shipping line to see if it has been assigned a ship. This part is not going well. Been checking every day since ETIS last updated around 12th January, still no ship.

Like you, the wait is killing me, its getting worse as I reckon I literally count the days down....
I must be sad but I don't think there has been more than a couple of days since I ordered (June 16) that I have not been thinking about the car!!

Thank god (or should I blame this forum?) for this forum as I have learnt sooooo much before it arrives. Thanks everyone, not sure I would have coped without it!
I agree the forum has me so well informed on things to look out for on the day of collection. I'm very detailed orientated and detail my own cars. (Thank god I'm not buying a black Mustang) I have had enough of getting my current car back after service and seeing scratches. Needless to say I don't have them wash it and only ever use 2BM

Retrospectively the wait was actually really quite fun. Supported by a the good folks on this forum. The worst part was knowing it was built and spending around 4 weeks at Baltimore Docks. The shipping live tracking and U.S based ford order tracking system actually helped keep me sane. Collection day is epic and well worth the wait.
I find myself watching the 'A Faster Horse' documentary on a weekly basis. This is my dream car. So much to modify on it over the course of its life and mine

Welcome! Yep, the wait is painful. I honestly don't know what I would have done without this forum, it kept me sane that's for sure!

Nice list of mods and intersting to see you are keen on the Apollo edition stang. I remember seeing a fantastic photo of it when it was released. Really cool looking car. Don't suppose you have the photo anywhere? Would love to see it again!

Look forward to seeing the build progress

I love it. It looks so awesome. I will add a few more things to it but in terms of the essence, this is it.

I can't wait. I know I will love every moment of it. I have wanted a mustang ever since I was a kid. Never thought id be able to buy one and then here I am. Probably gonna order my axle back and h pipe in the coming week before the pound takes an even more of a hammering. The first thing I'm going to do as soon as I get it is sorts the exhaust out. I have heard the H-pipe combo with the Roush axlebacks is LOUD hearth throb old school muscle. I'm not a fan of the raspy european sound. Ifi wanted that, id buy a used BMW M5

I think you will be fine. You will get it just in time for spring/summer. Perfect time really. Run it in during spring. Fun during summer. Mine will probably get here just in time for winter tyres lol

Its like the guys have said on here, I just think about windows down, old school rock music and that beautiful V8 soundtrack and rejoicing in the fact that when I have early mornings or late nights everyone wakes up in the neighbourhood

Ok, I admit it, I am a Stangaddict. I check it probably 5 to 10 times a day. I check it before I go to sleep reasoning that the US is hours behind us and they had probably not updated yet.

I'm going to call my dealership in a week. I didn't expect this so this is awesome to hear. When did you get your VIN?
Got sent a screenshot of my order by the dealer on Sunday which showed the estimated build date of March 7th.

Ignore whatever a dealer tells you it's just a guess. Window sticker on research maniacs is your guide. Just keep searching. I used to go on every day twice a day, then one morning it just popped up and bingo. It didn't help that they closed the factory during my build week, but it just went back by 5 working days.

Just got off the phone from the dealer. My build date is the same as yours. 7th of March baby! Awwwww Yeaaaawww

Our Mustangs are going to be born on the same day! That means if you or I have a problem with the cars it's very likely both of us will end up having the exact same issues

Dealer screen is like trusting Fritzl to look after your kids. It's vastly inaccurate. They have a place holder build date and that's about it. Most of the early adopters were put on Nov 11th build dates which caused vast confusion here.

Your best bet for build dates is speaking to (whomever now mans) [email protected] mailbox. As they have a more up to date, live tracker etc.

Oh, welcome to the forum, waiting is hard, but buying mods makes it so much easier, as does the information now at hand on the forums thanks to many of the users here so it makes it easier for you to know where everything is in each of the pipelines.

That's nowt, I walked in to my Ford dealer and two days later was driving away in a car as I would have spec'd it, unregistered and delivery miles. :D

I do however understand that I have clearly missed the best part of the ownership experience in not having to wait months for delivery:lol:

Let's hope there's f'all problems after this long wait. Spoke with my dealer today and have until tomorrow to decide on final colour choice. Not sure whether to stick with Grabber or go for Lightning. Was sure I wanted Grabber, but the long wait has had me rethinking everything.

Yup, I remember driving home from the dealership having just put down a deposit on the car which at 45 years of age i'd waited half my life on.
I was 47 when I picked up that car last April... ;)
