If it wasn't for the incredible value of the brakes, rear diff, and radiator I would say skip it. I got my car with PP and am already replacing parts (wheels, suspension, etc) that I paid extra for.

PP was a must with my purchase. First option box I checked.
If you like manual transmission and like to go around corner, it's no brainer.
I test drove the non-PP Mustangs. The ride was too soft and floaty.

Drive both, you will go with the PP :p The non-pp feels like a boat after.

Sometimes I wish I bought a perf pack but it's true, you can buy all the PP equipment on your own. The one thing I know you can't get are those steel oil lines to the transmission for the oil coolers. You'll have to suffice with normal hoses. If you're not planning to track the car much, you can live without the PP.

If you have serious track aspirations, then you will change the wheels/tires and suspension regardless, so likely wasting the cost premium for a PP car.

If you want a DD with better brakes, differential, handling and cooling, and don't care to or intend to mod a great deal, then PP is a no-brainer.

If you just want the Mustang looks and V8 power, then the base car is perfectly acceptable...........

2016 and before... YES, as it was only $2,495.

Then 2017 it went up to $2,995, harder pill to swallow. Probably still worth it, as it would cost more to do those upgrades separately, but you might not need/want all the parts that come with it. ex: the PP suspension you might end up changing all of it anyway.

2018 at $3,995! I've going to say it probably is not worth it for most people. For that price, I'd expect them to put some lightweight 2-piece rotors on it, similar to the GT350's.

That said, if I was buying one, I'm a sucker with a lot of money, so I'd probably load it up with nearly every options including PP2.

Is it possible the 2018 is also a better pkg or do we know what it is already?

PP brakes $1300
Torsen diff $1100
figure $1000 for installation and you have spent more than the package price without considering any other PP parts.

Anyone who needs the Track Pack suspension, needs these.

Now with the big price increase on the 2018, I would be waiting to see what the PP2 has, and for how much (or get a 1LE).

I DD mine and don't need the PP package. I'll never bring it to a track or road course. I hated the floaty suspension on the non PP so I installed the Ford racing track pack suspension. A step up from the PP suspension. Since my car was dealer ordered at the tail end of the 15 builds the only thing I wish I could of ordered was the 3.55's.

To sum it up for you yes it is definetly worth it! Its one of the biggest bargain packages ford has ever put on a mustang!
And for '18,the price increased $1k. But they added something else worthwhile (but I can't remember what). That's a 33% hike.

It is a Torsen Differential and yes the 3.73's. They don't help with fuel economy, but they make it "feel" a little faster. The stock differential is a clutch style and the Torsen diff is a gear/worm style. Better for left right stuff.
What a difference with the 3.73 gears. I had an EB with 3.55 gears and wish I still had the 3.55. I'm skipping 4th or 5th every time now. My Boy Racer years are long past.
And no spare tire option.
