Hi all.

I'm coming over to the S550 GT platform as of tomorrow. I'll be picking up a 2018 GT and trading in my 2019 Ecoboost for it. While I came to love the Ecoboost after putting in about $1000 into it (Intercooler, exhaust, custom tune) I just couldn't get over not having that sweet V8 sound. Looking forward to joining the V8 community and putting some mods into the car!

So... hi. I'm here by some sick twist of fate, and in light of that i'll try to make this intro post as entertaining as possible. Let's start with I totally don't belong here. I'm coming here because i'm trying to make the best of it. We'll get to that in a minute.

I'm actually a Chevrolet Camaro fan boy. I was the proud owner of a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE in hyberblue metallic, red fender hashes, I did the CAI, tune, and was working on doing additional mods. That car was fantastic. My car before it was a piddly little Kia Rio because it was literally all I could afford. My first "real" car was a celebration of having made it far in my career. It was amazing, the handling, the braking, the power, the feel, everything was light years beyond what I imagined a car was capable of. It opened my eyes to the car hobby and I am one of those people who soak up information like sponges once they're interested. I dove deep into auto mechanics, did all the extra work on my 1LE myself after having never even so much as changed a tire over the last twenty years. I was a amateur track guy with street bikes for years, but cars just weren't my cup of tea. I took my 1LE to the track and joined the SCCA, it was amazing. The Camaro made me a believer. My grandfathers were both company Ford mechanics/engineers back in the day. They were probably rolling over in their graves. So why am I in the Mustang forum you say? Well that's where the rest of the story comes in.

My career took a turn. I got a great offer from a company in Dallas to move myself and my family 1500 miles out of the north east and start over in Texas. When were discussing the costs and our financial position it became clear very quickly I couldn't ship the Camaro, I couldn't drive it because we had to bring the kids and a german shepherd and the Cruze hatchback was already spoken for handling other logistical problems. That backseat. Damn that backseat. (Very vanilla of me I know.) Between that and realizing that I was going to be commuting in and out of a city with nationally recognized bad traffic in a manual compounded the issues. I had a moment of weakness where I thought - "Ok, so the mature decision would be to take a lower payment, lower insurance, and get a vehicle that could make the trip with two little kids in the back seat. I'll be damned if I give up a V8 though." I had less than two weeks to find a buyer for my car, and then pick up a used car with a financial gain. It was painful. I never thought you could be so attached to a car. My kids actually cried when I finally found someone who would take it. In exchange? I ended up with a Shadow Black 2016 Mustang GT Premium Convertible with only 12,000 miles on it. Better MPG (mostly), lower insurance, lower payment, slightly better back seats. Problem solved.

It was probably mile 700 when I realized I made a terrible mistake, and the regret set in fast. But once we got into Texas we were out 10k in expenses for moving and paying deposits and all that. My credit dropped almost 70 points from over using the cards and the trade was fresh. I must have tried a dozen dealers in the DFW area. There was no escaping the pony. I'm stuck with her. So here I am, 1500 miles from home, starting over, and everything about this new job and the area so far has been perfect. When I say its a night and day improvement in quality of life, I mean it was a HUGE improvement. But this car.. Man. It bounces like crazy, super soft, the steering wheel is too loose for me even in sport, and I swear I can feel slightly less power. It has a butt ton of torque in the upper end though which my track variant did not have. Plus its convertible. It has some really nice features - even if its slightly older than my 18. Ford's build quality is actually pretty impressive coming from the other side. I dig the puddle lamps I always chuckle when the mustang lights up on the ground. But like I said, i'm a sponge. It looks like ol Pony and I are stuck with one another. So here I am, soaking up information on mods, the culture, peoples opinions, and trying to make connections with clubs. I have an initial build planned out. Screw the creditors. I can make enough cash in a few months and make this thing a 350R eater. Lemons into lemonade right? In any case, I hope you will accept a unwitting refugee into your tribe. Looking forward to learning a lot from the crowd here. :)

Welcome. Your Cognitive Dissonance is already kicking in, I see. Much less stressful that way, eh?

Don't let me forget to mention, you're probably home now, not 1,500 miles away. And it's not some "sick twist of fate": you made the choices and should take credit.

Strange that insurance on convertibles costs less than for coupes. Take that, too,and be thankful.

It's a switch. I'm the worst for impostor syndrome to be sure. Thank you. :) I am, it's just an adjustment. It'll take some work but Pony and I will become good friends in time. ;D

Hey all, my name is Jeremy from Florida. Lured in via bbq tick threads, but in for the count. Looooooong time Ford/Mustang Fan. First car was a 95 GT 5 SPD. I've owned a long line of Mustangs, Cobras and Lightnings. Was active back in the day on SVT Forum but I've been out of it for awhile. Just bought my wife a Range Rover and assumed ownership of her 2018 GT (Only way I could con her out of it) It needed a procharger, for you know for fuel mileage and stuff. It arrived last week thanks to Beefcake so I'm looking forward to getting back in the game and lurking around here with all of you.

You got a Mustang? Then of course you belong here. This being a GM guy back from before a lot of you were born. Sometimes a twist of fate brings you and it turns out the change wasn't bad after all. Took me until 1992 to switch and that was only because the ex wanted a convertible and she wouldnt take a Camaro - so v8 Mustang it was. Haven't looked back.

Good Morning Folks.......

I just heard about your Forum and thought I'd check in to find out more about my POWERFUL "Rolling Computer" Mustang GT 5.0 6-Speed Vert........this car is AMAZING....still tryin' to figger it out!!

I've owned Muscle Cars from the 60's, Sports Cars, a GNARLY AC Cobra Replica, a Sebring 3000 Healey Replica......ALL were FUN but this Mustang is so far ahead of the pack it's not even FUNNY!!

BTW......I just ordered a Quickjack Lift to make underside and tire work much more pleasant!!:like:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!:)

Good Morning,

I am from Pennsylvania and in many years ago owned a 66 mustang convertible, and a 66 coupe. The convertible was Rangoon red with a 289, the coupe was a Wimbledon white K code.

Yesterday I took delivery of a brand new 2018 GT 350. I appreciate all of the great information provided in this forum.

Disclaimer: I don't own an S550 (yet anyway), just an old 2001 Convertible Mustang that's a 2nd car. My daily is a 2018 Nissan Titan and I've been thinking about getting away from driving a full size pickup and going back to a sports car. This is a continual back and forth I do, a disease really. Out of curiosity, I searched and found a local dealer with a GT that has the PP2 and a Bullitt and drove them both back to back. I really liked the PP2 even though I'd have to get some more appropriate tires nearly right away b/c it rains a lot in the South East. I like how firm the ride was in the PP2 car much better than the PP1 I test drove for a couple days year before last as well as the Bullitt although the Bullitt is a really nice car.

Hey I'm Thed! Some (if any) willl recognize me from Motor Trend and Car Fanatics Forums. I am 18 and about to enter college here in NC. I currently drive a 1996 Ford Ranger and she is my pride and joy (her name's DeLone and you shall address her as such :p ). But, she won't last forever. Nah just kidding, she could. But I have some plans for the old girl and before I start, I need a new DD. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be in the market for a new car by the time the 2016 model years will be coming out. That way I can get a late 2015 for nothing. :D

I have been a fan of the almighty Pony since before I knew what it was, because there was something about those Foxbodies that just clicked with my six0year-old brain. For the most part I'm a traditionalist, my Mustang will be a RWD manual V8 coupe. Anything else will not be considered. Not even a convertible.

So yeah that's a breif intro from me.

Also, admin(s), I volunteer to be a moderator. :p

Greenville is a great little city, I lived there for 15 years and still come back regularly for work. There’s a decent Cars & Coffee held at Michel N.A. I think the 4th Saturday of the month. Nice car!
