I have been a Hot Hatch driver for over 20 years. I race on tracks as an Amateur and have taken many a Track Course, full day and half days. I loved the Lancer Evo GSR on the track but on the daily drive it was horrible, rattled, loud and just cheap inside yet going for 50k with the performance packages etc, so amazing platform but nothing else.
I have been a Mini Cooper driver for 10 plus years with 3 Minis over that period. The John Cooper Works I just love, incredible handling and nimble feel but lacking a bit in the HP. On track days when we got in the corners, turns, winds I was at the advantage, when we went on the straights the GTs pulled ahead.
Now that Ford has joined the 21st Century and finally gone to IRS on the Mustang I am on board. I tried the Focus ST and really liked it but I found the car very boring looking , I mean there are Focuses everywhere and other than ST on the Grille and the exhaust it looks exactly the same. Hence why I went towards the Mustang. My first drive on a Mustang was horrible, it was a V6 automatic and I thought OMG is this ever a dull sluggish car. Years later I tried the GT and liked it a whole lot better but found the Solid axle just took away from the nimble feel I love. Then came the new platform for the 2015 Mustang. I actually like the look of the 2015 model but I realize for the traditionalists it might not work. Ford tried to bring in new markets and well here I am. There are only 125 LE 50th Mustangs GT bound for Canada and I have one of them. Do I think they will be collectable? No, not really, I mean the idea is to mark the 50th anniversary. I love the Kona Blue and took the manual, I believe no automatics are coming up north anyway, only manual. I like the look of it, I like the interior and I think its worthwhile getting one of the 1964 LEs. Will it be some collectable gem? IMHO, no way, its just a cool car. I have put a $1000 deposit down and the dealer is selling to me for MSRP. but if I see Ford soaks us with a ridiculous price then I will bail out and simply get a GT with the appearance package.
This board has great information on it with a lot of people from various backgrounds so cool to join.
Fender comes from the guitar as I love Telecasters and Strats so I went for "fender" as a handle
I'm back after 10 years! Almost purchased an 05 mustang, ended up going with a BMW 3 series. I've come full circle. Just recently almost purchased another 3 series when the 2015 mustang crossed my radar. Now begins the countdown to a fall purchase. What I'm looking to get; 2.3l with performance package, 6 speed manual...cheers!
I found the forum while looking around for info on the 2015 Mustang. Spent a few hours going through the threads trying to get my 'fix', only to have the shakes worse now than when I showed up. Thanks to y'all for that.
For my daily drivers, I've only gone with the 'smart' family option up until now. I have an '06 Jetta TDI at the moment. As easy as it is on the pocket book when I fill up, it's not all that much fun to drive. So, it's time to mix things up.
I've never been a huge fan of US Muscle cars just because of their heft. Before I saw news of the 2015 Mustang, I was planning my VW escape to a 370Z. Looking more for a sports car than a muscle car.
But then I saw the renderings of the new Mustang along with the switch to IRS and from then on, it was bye bye 370Z and buy buy 2015 Mustang. While the EB4 is the more prudent option for me with the miles I drive, I'm going all in with the GT PP, Magnetic w/ Black Racing stripe.
Don from S. Texas. I have owned new, '67 GTO, 69 GTO ram air, '72 GTO, 280Z...then to trucks where the V-8 went back then. I am GMC, Pontiac guy. Really liked the looks of the new Camaro but sitting on the inside of one ruined it. Cannot see out of the dang thing. Like driving a bunker.
Really like the looks of the new Mustang. Will see and drive one as soon as out. Would really like one more American, RWD, V-8 2dr. Would really like a true hard top 2dr but the Mustang is close as a coupe. Maybe my first Ford?
Current BRZ owner looking to purchase a GT Perf Pack/Recaro/Manual.
I've been on a number of forums over the last 15 years, so some of you may know me. I'm a bit of a car whore, and I AutoX/track all of my "fun" cars as well. I've owned some 20 cars, but none have been American! The Mustang has always been a car that I've followed. In high school my friend's dad had a 94 Cobra and I thought that car was pretty rad. I was finally close to buying a Mustang in 2011 when the 5.0 showed up, but in the end I couldn't justify the cost for the car with a solid rear. The s550 looks beautiful to me, fixes my issue with the rear suspension, and hopefully loses a few pounds as they say.
Here's a list of some of my fun cars I've had over the years:
- '96 BMW 328is
- '98 Acura Integra GSR
- '98 BMW M3
- '04 Subaru WRX STi
- '06 Subaru Forester XT (STi swapped suspension and power mods)
- '88 BMW 535is
- '99 Mazda Miata
- '10 Mazdaspeed3
- '09 BMW 335d
- '13 Subaru BRZ

Unfortunately I do not but as soon as I get word I'll be sure to share the information. by base pricing do you mean a base v6 mustang or base GT? I am hoping to know more within the week especially with the euro initial launch confirmed. The US order banks, guides and pricing should officially hit dealerships before then.
I think we're all dying to know base pricing for each model so that we can figure out an accurate total price with options for each model. For me, that'd be a GT + Premium + Performance Pack and some other options. OR an SVT if it still gets released this year. *giggity*
new here, but old everywhere else...First new Mustang was a 69 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet, wanted to buy a new 2005, didn't like getting jacked around by the dealers. Bought a used 2001 Bullitt with 3,000 miles on it. Now here we are, same thing. I want to order a 2015, but won't pay a "ransom "
