If I had the liberty of doing so I’d be all in. No questions ask.

I’m diy-ing everything so parts are my only expense here. However, I live in CA and I have to play by the rules.

I’ve taken down the manifold and pulled the rod. A single steel square 3.5mm rod is failing in these cars and costing thousands in parts/labor for people.

Ford should be manufacturing and selling these bits.

I am working on pressing the adapter w/ball joint on the end of the rods out to try and explore what local machine shops have to offer.
Yeah, being in California complicates things. Apparently there is another way if you can find a GT350 manifold for a good price. This adapter lets you use your stock throttle body on the new manifold: https://www.vmpperformance.com/VMP-GT-throttle-body-to-GT350-manifold-adapter-plate
https://www.teamjdm.com/jdm-gt350-evap-harness-extension/

According to this thread, no tune is needed so you'll retain emissions compliance.

That’s a great possibility.

I’m going to chew on that a little further. Do you know why the GT350 mani doesn’t trip CELs like the Gen 3 does? Is it runner length differences? Slight differences in sensors?

This does work
It’s a solid move, I just need to guarantee it won’t trip the CEL.

If I buy this and I am stuck with a CEL I’ll have to either force a return or be stuck with $800 in parts while still having to buy the PP3.

The GT350 manifold uses the same IMRC controls as the gen 2 coyote. As long as you use the adapter and your stock throttle body there will not be any check engine lights or hidden codes.

Shop around the 350 mani can be found in the 400 range.

They are comically cheap compared to the other options, a plug and play here for under $500 with whatever upgraded IMRC actuating rods the GT350 has is great.

That’s good intel, too bad Gen 3s don’t hook up as easily.

I’m going to sit on this info and wait for Ford Performance’s thoughts.

If they are sale driven at all they will give me clear examples of why the GT350 manifold should not break again.

The PP3 has a ton of top end gains, but lacks gains down low. Did you experience a difference around town? If not noticeably quicker, did it feel more responsive?

They both make more HP.
Of course, the superior design with a tune would definitely do that.

I live in CA though so I’m pretty limited as far as staying CARB compliant goes.

Any experience with different manifold IMRC actuating rod strength? That’s where I was going with that question.

I have never heard of a gt350 manifold breaking an IMRC rod. You can swing a dead cat and hit 2 or 3 gen 2 manifolds that have broke.

As far as performance if you get the PP3 you will like the increase. If you just install the manifold with the adapter you won't notice anything.

This.

It's literally plug and play. All you have to do is free up a little slack in the IMRC wiring. It'll even run just fine on the stock tune assuming you use the stock Gen2 injectors.

But the PP3 lets the intake work its magic, and it's probably the way to go in Kalifornia.
