Insurance

I'm trying to save money on insurance and I'm about to order a 2017 GT Prem but I'm 23 in the State of Maryland and I'm afraid I'll get destroyed...

I have State Farm right now paying like $85 for a 2004 Honda Accord with really low coverage...

Anybody near my age in MD or VA?
Any recommendations for good insurance companies?
How much insurance do I really need or should have?
Try Progressive - get state mins and you should get a low price.
Granted thats what I do, but heck am in my 50's and drive like an old man.
Don't get into any accidents - Drive the speed limit, obey all traffic laws and in 27 years you'll be paying $300.00 every six months for insurance. ;)

2016 gt premium $960 yr 250 comp and collision plus free towing and rental car. I feel like my rate is high. But after reading this maybe I better shut up.
After a few months of ownership they changed my rate. See below.

2017 mustang gt premium
State farm
39 yr old male no record

Liability 50k/100k/50k
Personal 25k
Comprehensive $100
Collision $250
Uninsured 50/100/20,000

6 month rate $614

So you had a '16 and traded it for a '17? $960/yr is equal to $450/6 mo so that is pretty huge jump up to $614!!!

Too many crash claims ... which is causing insurance rates to go up on these cars. There have been quite a few wrecks and totaleds thread just on this chat board alone.

Not to mention these cars are ridiculously expensive to repair (body damage). As I found out with mine last month. $13,000 for a tree hitting the quarter. Now my beautiful Mustang is going to be parted out in a junkyard.

Gotta love USAA. E36, S13, and S550 GT all insured for $820 bucks for 6 months. 2 points on my record when policy was written. Minimum coverage for the other 2 cars though.

Just did another quote on GEICO, you can now select 2018 Mustang GTs from their database. It came out to be $760/6mo for me for 100k/300k, $50k property and comprehensive coverage on a GT with $250 deductible (no rental, roadside assistance, or mechanical failure coverage) plus my Jeep with liability only.

27, no accidents or tickets, maximum discounts GEICO will allow me.

They ran the car as a 16 as they did not have 17 prices. It's been updated since.

Something is very fishy here...

There is no way, without a DUI/DWI that a Mustang GT would add $4300 per year to a policy. In ten years you could have paid for another Mustang GT!

Granted, each insurance company does have what they call "Requires underwriter approval" and "Unacceptable" vehicles. Your carrier may see the Mustang GT as such.

However, something is not right. If you want the car, shop insurance. Each carrier has what they consider the "Perfect" client. And builds their products around that client.

We have...

$2,500,000 Liability (Includes Umbrella)
$2,500,000 UIM/UM (Includes Umbrella)
$35k PIP
$1000 Comp with $0 glass
$1000 Coll
$50 per day Rental Car
Accident forgiveness
$100 per year (Max $500) reduction on Coll Ded for each claim free year
Two car year replacement upgrade guarantee/gap

All for $1387 per year on a 2016 Mustang GT Premium...

5.0 Probie what company is that?

If you are the primary service member or have the appropriate family affiliation, USAA cannot be beat for customer service and satisfaction, ease of claim processing and price.

How does that work? Does adult son of a deceased ex-service member qualify?

If your father was a USAA member, then you are also eligible to join
There has to be original membership with a family service member, a parent, I believe for any children to become USAA members.
USAA: 800.531.8111 - qualification criteria in that regard may have changed.
