Hi,

Not much point in quoting figures as they are very individual but percentage wise, are you all seeing a considerable jump in your premium ?

I've had no changes to the policy or my circumstances, and in the time I have owned the car (2020) the renewals have gone up :

  • 2021 = 1%
  • 2022 = 1.75%
  • 2023 = 14%

They (A-Plan) were very apologetic and had all the typical explanations lined up, they also managed to reduce the increase to 5.5% after I reduced the annual mileage (it was well overstated in the past). They did also mention that the next best quote they had had was more than double my current premium

Just wondered if others have seen the same, or if I was being penalised for some other reason that's out of my control - postcode, the amount of stangs that seem to be getting involved in 'incidents' recently ... ?

Cheers,

They try it on every year, I have to complain as part of the renewal process for them to "see what we can do" and knock the price down. Tax is the same, I'm now paying more in tax than insurance.

I was with Admiral multicar until April this year when the renewal went up 50% - no changes to cover or any claims. They reduced it when I complained but was still up over 40% so I cancelled.

After a comparison website check I got the renewal to within £5 of my previous year.

Yeah I have to say the £'s increase isn't a lot, but the % increase seems out of step ...

I've gone from NA with mods declared and not covered with Ford (Admiral) at £700 to supercharged and all mods covered and agreed value with Adrian Flux for £750 with all other details the same.

All mods except the supercharger were the same.

Mustang GT Manual 2017 - now sold ☹
From my own experience of having had a no fault accident
1. Insurance companies are woefully understaffed and have so many delays in dealing with clients that the complaint payout is enormous which obviously needs covering somehow
2. Insurance companies are woefully understaffed and have so many delays in dealing with claims that the Lawyers need to get involved to make any progress on claims and obv their hourly charge rate is enormous
3. Parts are expensive for any number of known and unknown reasons
4. Courtesy cars via insurance companies are leased out at stupid stupid day rates and thus lawyers are again involved as the third party insurer ain't gonna pay that day rate, ever. Period. This more lawyer time booked against claims.

All the above is why premiums are going up plus other reasons that I've not encountered, yet.

Don't leave it too late to get quotes locked in as the nearer you get to renewal date the more it goes up, I discovered this pain before.
Thanks mate, I'll call tomorrow

I've been with A plan for the last two or three years. my first year was £400, then when I told them I could get it cheaper it went down to £300, this year it went down to about £250 without me even haggling??

£750 with declared and covered FI, seems like really good value. I'm paying so much more than that, but to be fair I had no record of my own driving insurance as I was always on my Mrs' policies. Calling up and saying, "Hi, I have no history of my own policy, live in London, and am driving a modified Mach 1"....most of the replies were "Bueller? Ferris Bueller?"
