My insurer quoted me an additional 160€ for 2024. I said thx but no thx and switched to someone else who only asked for and extra 50€. Sadly I was a bit too hasty and didn't do my DD as thorough as I usually do because later I found out yet another that would have given me a 70€ deduction compared to my 2023 price. Ah well, there's always next year :)

Renewal time again …

  • Renewal quote = +14.5%
  • Renewal quote after a short phone call = +3%

No changes to my policy or cover.

Overall I’m very happy with that, I will take it as a win :sunglasses:

If anyone is interested, I’m (still) with A-Plan / Howden

I'd be happy with a 3% rise too! State Farm in California has been raising rates every year to recoup their payouts on wild fires and landslides. They are no longer writing home insurance policies in CA and just raised my rates 50% compared to last year! No claims in 15 years means nothing to these scumbags!

I shop around all the brokers each year (Adrian Flux, Brentacre, Howdens - Thatcham etc.) and my price from Ford (Admiral - previously cheapest) to Adrian Flux and now Howdens never changed, but I was adding lots of mods and went from declared to covered. So I'm getting better cover and not paying anymore, including adding the supercharger! What I've learned is that the underwriters shift each year, and some brokers have ones that others don't, and there'll be one that just suits your needs better and gives a decent price. My renewal with Adrian Flux went from £700 to £1900, but then I went to Howdens and the same cover was £700. It's put me off Adrian Flux as with a broker there's no excuse for taking the piss like that with the renewal - and they took the payment two weeks before it was due, so £1900 went out miles in advance when I was going to cancel. Howdens have a great reputation, so hoping they continue to be cheapest - I've also heard from people that they don't try the renewal hike either.

Progressive really jacked my rates this year on my auto and home policies. I switched to Hanover through my wife's union and saved over $3K! Half of that was due to the Mustang alone.

renewal time. Came down 20% and after a wee haggle on loyalty discount got another few quid off it. This is year 2 renewal after my non fault accident (story version - i got rear ended when i stopped and was stationary for a red light and lorry behind didn't) so i reckon the drop is purely returning me bit by bit to where i would be without a no fault claims on my record. Only mods, exhaust and car garaged.

Gone down massively for me.
780 was cheapest last year - and I shopped around a lot.
Same this year 783 after shopping around a lot.
But renewal from Admiral (again, it was 780 with them last year) came through at 711 and after calling them up to discuss/try and get it cheaper i resigned at £496(!).

(Not garaged -driveway, 1 total loss claim 2 years ago for £26k (non-fault) , 12 years ncb, age 46, £500 total excess, low crime area).

Coming back to Mustangs following a 2.5yr timeout. Picking up my tripple yellow GT on Saturday!

Getting insurance quotes... wow! £1,150 for 6k miles is my cheapest so far. Only mods are exhaust, lowering springs and spacers. Suspect its because a US Government employee (aka a spy!) smashed into me back in 2023 that I'm getting such a high premium (Tesla dashcam didn't pick up the event so declared 50/50). I've tried Adrian Flux and they came in at £1,700. Still waiting Chris Knott and Howden's to get back in touch. Last insurance on my CO S550 was £620!

Edit: Chris Knott came back at £2,400 and £4,400! :cwl:

Mine was £827 last year. My renewal from Admiral came through saying my insurance has gone down. I've yet to check, I suspect they're lying.

£457 for me on my S650. Full no claims, no points, one no fault accident in 2021.

S550 was almost identical last year

They have to show you last year price and this year price on the renewal quote so difficult to hide.

If you have somebody with a better profile you can use as a named driver it may help?
