Has anyone done this on their own or paid for a shop to do it? I am looking at a potential purchase and it appears the stripes were removed at some point. Not sold they need to be put back but was curious if anyone had done this before and what their experience (and cost) was

Call Big Worm in Dallas. They do installs and should be able to give you a price. I am curious myself.

Good starting point.

The kit is much harder to install than it looks. I paid my striper more than I would have liked. But the outcome is what mattered to me.

I also pulled the grills and rear deck for an even tighter fit.

I had my factory black stripes removed and the car re-striped with blue Big Worm stripes by a local PPF shop. It could possibly be done yourself but it looked to me like something better done by folks with experience. Install, if I recall, was in the hundreds of dollars range. Big Worm kits are a couple hundred dollars. OEM stripe kits (without install) are thousands.

I had to have part of the oem stripes replaced on my 2012 GT500 after a minor run-in with a deer. I watched the guys do it and it "looked easy" but it was obvious they had a lot of experience with applying stripes, decals, etc. As was mentioned above, the oem stripes are super expensive.

If you're getting the Le Mans stripes like @Firsttexan (SHARP CAR!) I would definitely use an expert. Otherwise you're likely to end up with part of it looking crooked. If I remember correctly, the oem stripes actually had a slight taper that helps them look straight when applied.

If the stripes are relatively inexpensive to purchase, you can always remove them if they don't work out. I did a hood decal on my 2018 F150 that turned out great. Use lots of water, in a spray bottle with a couple drops of dish washing soap, and spray the surface of your car, and the adhesive surface of the stripes generously before placing the decals. There are videos showing how. I found very helpful. Good Luck and post pics!

What car are we talking? I have a set of leftover GT350R matte black roof stripes.

That kit looks really nice on there. As Turning Blue was saying, I was thinking along the lines of "if they aren't too expensive, does trying it myself make sense and removing if it ends up looking bad" . I think given the size and how I know I'll feel if there is even a slight issue with the alignment, it may be best to bite the bullet and have a good installer take the lead.

Donā€™t know if this helps you visually but GT350ā€™s with the black roof do not come with stripes on the roof.

I ordered the Big Work kit and my daughter and I put them on. Not hard if you follow their directions and take your time. The kits come with every single piece cut to fit. Only piece you would need to cut would be if you add the 1/4 pin stripe to main stripe. Very easy.

I got a quote for $850 from a local shop to provide and install the front to rear racing stripes. Big Worm sounds better lol.
