who's put in a real tach into these cars?? do you need a tach adapter or can it wire into the stock harness somehow. if so how? I've got an Autometer sport comp playback tach I want to put in just mainly for the shift light. I can get the playback data off the datalog.
The 9117 worked for my Gen3. It does require you to cut the common coil power wire. I cut it on the supply connector. That way I can swap engines and ECUs without cutting again.

Not a gen3 not a 5.0 not even a v.
I do have the 9117 ordered.

Why didn't you just buy a Holley shifter light ? It plugs directly into the obd2 port.
Data logger plugged in to it. The splitter doesn’t work with it either

Well that's disappointing. I bought a splitter to use with my shift light and my nGauge but haven't tried it yet.

How about one of these? I installed on on my Harley Davidson Sportster and it works perfectly. This particular version says it’s for a 4 cyl. Vehicle with a 6K base rpm. What that means is you dial up the rpm you want from there using the dip switches. OP, if you only want a shift light as you previously indicated, this would make for a cleaner package and eliminate the large tach. The control module is super small and will fit in the palm of your hand, so it’ll be easy to hide.

That seems like a cool little device. I appreciate the link. I did however get the autometer tach adapter ordered already. The issue I’m having with this is it was suppose to be a cheap quick solution because I already had the tach.
