Went to the gym today and when I came back out I noticed a crease in rear panel by the window. It’s hard to see but it’s a 2” vertical crease. Looks like either someone set something on it or dropped something on it, idk. Work hard to buy nice shit for this to happen…

Here is a little trick I use, park the car and walk to the door of a business.

I remember my dad helped my brother get a brand new 2003 firebird. Well, he had a seizure and couldn’t drive for a year so I’d ride with my dad to go pick up my brother from work. We were sitting outside in the car one day waiting for my brother, and the guy in the car next to us slams his door into the driver side. So, my dad gets out and asks the guy what the fuck his problem was and he said “he was having a bad” day and shoved my dad. Needless to say that man’s day got WAY worse after that, lol.

I get that people are in the their head more than ever these days because of all the shit going on, but that’s no excuse to ruin someone else stuff.

I’ve scratched and dented someone else’s shit on accident before and I’ve waited for them to get back to let them know it was an accident and proceed accordingly.
That's funny you mention you've done it and waited for the owner, about 6-7y ago I was backing out my driveway in winter and hit the brakes but it slid wee bit and tapped the car parked on the street. Now it wasn't that great of shape and mine was brand new and the debt was easily fixed but I still waited to talk to him, I couldn't just take off it would haunt me. Lol

I literally can’t do stuff like that to people, lol. Like you said, it would most definitely haunt me and karma would come back and get my ass.

That's exactly how I looked at it, I could've drive away the guy would have not seen the spot unless he was washing it maybe but I just couldn't do it. I couldn't find the owner I literally went to the police station gave his license plate they looked it up and called him, I hope if someone did something to my they'd own up not likely as their are so few of us honest trustworthy people still here. Lol

I’ve seen people constantly get out their car at the gym with their hands full and drop stuff. I’ve also seen people set their stuff down on other peoples cars before without a care in the world.

I get what you mean but come on, lol. I like to thinK the majority of us here take pristine care of our stuff, especially our cars. At least I do because it ain’t cheap lol.
Actually, I'd bet most people that take great care of their vehicles inside and out also take care of their other "stuff", whether it's electronics, appliances, etc. I've always heard people say that all my stuff that I'd sell all seemed like mint condition despite being years old. Whether it's ham radio gear, test equipment, cars, etc. I always keep them as new as I can (easier now that I'm retired so have time to clean my car a couple times a week).

Thanks! I had a 2018 sport that had hvac issues so I wound up getting rid of it. Wasn’t sure if the newer ones had issues or not but I’ll do more research.
The spooky part about the new refrigerant, R1234yf, is that it's "slightly flammable". What that means is very vague but I saw some Youtube videos of it's flammability. All vehicles sold in the U.S. from 2020 and up require it. Most manufacturers began years earlier; I believe the Honda Fit was the last to switch as it used R-134a until 2019 while the other models had switched a couple to a few years earlier.

My Mustang was less than 3 days old before someone opened their door onto the rear wheel arch. PDR sorted it, but of course at my cost.

A lot of people are oblivious to anyone else but themselves these days. And when you call people out for this sort of thing, it's you who has the problem not them.

I think the best thing to do in these situations, where you know who did it, is just let one of their tires down. They inconvenienced you, then return the favor.
I have to disagree with your "solution". All it does it make you feel better supposedly but is that really the "right" thing to do? Should we lower ourselves to their level by doing a "tit for tat" reaction? That kind of response is what causes "road rage" that sometimes escalates to people shooting someone for cutting them off on the freeway. I understand the feeling because I get pissed/upset when stuff happens to me, but we have to acknowledge that those people are disrespectful idiots and I don't want to bring myself down to their level. I'll have to suck it up and move on. I miss the days back in the 60's when we didn't lock our cars or homes and didn't have to worry about it. I guess looking at our cars today just shows how mankind has gotten worse rather than better. Cars having anti-theft systems, driver safety systems, etc. all seem to say that people's morals have all but disappeared plus we aren't as skilled at driving today than we were many decades ago. Unfortunately, I guess things like honor, respect, integrity and character aren't important to many people today especially when you see news reports about corrupt politicians, police chiefs, etc. (all people who should know better).

You are surprised by this? "My life sucks so yours is going to as well. IDGAF about nuffin'". Usually said with a smoke hanging out of their mouth and the fuzzy miserable old lady slippers as they go to Walmart.

This is why I park 9 counties over from the peasants.

So here's the thing. Stop shopping at places where people are shit bags. I'm talking about Walmart, Aldi, the parking garage at the mall, etc.

If you can't park in an inconspicuous place in order to shop at these places, people need to come to terms with the fact that others will not respect their property. Scum shop at these value places because they don't have wealth. When one has never had something how can one expect them to respect it? Hell, how can we expect them to even understand it?

They'll look at these cars and somehow find a way to make us the ones at fault. So stop taking your shiny mustang to flipping Walmart on a Sunday afternoon and start taking it to the local grocery store ran by Ma and Pa or something. I see plenty of vehicles that scream "wealth" at my local store over what I see in the "city" area stores.

Are you sure it was a 2003? The last Firebirds were 2002 if I’m not mistaken.

I actually saw this, walking over to a CC I was driving. This woman has a bicycle tire sitting on the trunk lid.

Look into her eyes and asked, do you own this car, no? It's my car, not a park bench get that crap off of it.

I sure got the stink eye (tuff shit) but informed her. You don't own it keep your grimy little hands and bicycle tire off.

The best way I avoid the ass hats from messing up the paint. Park as far away from the entrance of any public facility, and I mean all of them.

I run into a situation where someone has shouted free lunch, ballons, or the useless 10% discount screw it and go elsewhere.

There are always places people will not use cause of their lazy ass and self-importance.

Some days you just feel defeated. It’s almost like it isn't worth the stress of wondering if someone is gonna damage your car. Damn, I really even hate when people are too close to my bumper at a light. If you move a 1/16th of an inch forward, they will too…so annoying. Get the hint?

General lack of respect starts with property and then those tendencies extend to people. When left unchecked, which is what you see now, you’ll find no shortage of those willing to attack what they see as “privilege”. Crazy world. Sign of the times.

Exactly.

"You have something nice and therefore don't appreciate people that don't have nice things. This now qualifies me to be a shit bag to you because I am morally superior."

It's just a roundabout way to justify their envy and pettiness. However, a large majority of people also don't have manners or respect. Those are the actual privileged people (ala bicycle tire person).
