I also have a 1967 Fastback. ;)

The Granddaddy of all modern Mustangs.
Now that I can respect! I had a '67 hardtop. It never looked that good!

I chose to buy it over the new Mustang; hence the Prius. ;)

The raw feeling of driving a Classic is unparalleled; no fancy lights or graphs - just you, the drivetrain and the car.

BTW, the picture is not of my car - but I have the same, just a different color and with Torq Thrust D's. Although my plan is to repaint it Highland Green.

Back story...

My commute doubled 18 months ago going from 16 miles one way to 32 mile one way. I was spending 2.5 hours a day almost sitting in a car in traffic.

I bought my mustang so I could at least enjoy traffic.

Well, I got a new job and my commute will go back to the old 16 miles one way. The wife said, good, now can you get rid of the mustang and get a more practical car?

She is a hater. Thinks the car is too small.

Problem is, at the moment, there are no cars with manual transmissions that excite me. She wants another Audi, but the new S4 is a lowly 340 HP and DSG only.

Looks like she is going to be disappointed as I intend to keep the Mustang for a while.
keep the car,ditch the wife.

Haha. This thread.

I got a new job, told my fiancée I was getting a Mustang and she said, "Well, telling you no isn't going to stop you."

TELL HER NO.

my wife told me no. I still ordered my car. She was pissed. Now she is slowly accepting that nothing short of death will prevent me from getting my Mustang. ;)

Accepting it for now maybe. If she starts getting that Charles Manson look in her eyes, time to hit the Autobahn.

Find a different route that's longer than the old one. Problem solved.

Also don't tell her that the 2.5 hours in traffic by yourself was the best part of the old job.

Better check that. There's no one that I will accept telling me what to drive or how to spend the money I earn.
Second that. Check that quick. Don't let anyone tell you what to f'in drive.

 My dad has a highland green 67 fastback w/ white stripes. He drives it once in a while around the South Bay area, perhaps you might of seen it.

OP, do what feels right. I was in the same position recently.

I got a new job, bought the mustang and found out that we were having a baby (that was delivered last night). All those events happened in a week. When my wife told me about the addition to the family I immediately was excited, said congrats and told her I wasn't selling the mustang.

She understood. She's a great wife.

Good luck OP, this is a great thread.
