Back story...

My commute doubled 18 months ago going from 16 miles one way to 32 mile one way. I was spending 2.5 hours a day almost sitting in a car in traffic.

I bought my mustang so I could at least enjoy traffic.

Well, I got a new job and my commute will go back to the old 16 miles one way. The wife said, good, now can you get rid of the mustang and get a more practical car?

She is a hater. Thinks the car is too small.

Problem is, at the moment, there are no cars with manual transmissions that excite me. She wants another Audi, but the new S4 is a lowly 340 HP and DSG only.

Looks like she is going to be disappointed as I intend to keep the Mustang for a while.

Haha, my buddy just went through something similar as you.

Can you afford 2 cars? If so, get her a used A4 and she'll be happy. What does she drive now? Don't get rid of the Mustang unless that is something you want.

The day I decided I didn't want the Mustang anymore is the day I stopped enjoying the car.

On the flip side, Mustangs are holding their value and dealers are giving a great deal on trade ins. Good luck bud.

One that's less practical, and excites me. Preferably that gives manuals...

Why does she care? What does she drive? Take hers if you need a more comfortable/bigger vehicle for trips.

My wife doesn't care what I drive and wanted me to get the Mustang because it was what I wanted. She likes it too. Unless you have a legit reason to get a different vehicle, like the Mustang doesn't fit stuff you need to bring with you regularly, why change?

i think you need to have a conversation about your wife with your wife more than getting a new car because your commute is 30 miles less...lol

I sold my '14 and was planning on getting a new WRX to be more practical. My wife told me to get a '16 GT premium instead. I obliged.

So, who drives the 2014 Explorer Sport, your wife? If so, did she choose it? And, if that's her/the 'family' vehicle, why can't you drive what you like back and forth to work?

Just Google a local divorce Attorney.
Works GREAT *IF* you know she is a browser snooper.

(as far as the car thing goes) The loss from taking it in for trade is pretty BIG. That $$ would be tough to recoup no matter what "practical" car you bought.

I've been married 24 years. I would posit that you have bigger issues than the car you drive. I may be wrong, but the symptom is there.

Marriage is all about compromise ...

Tell her a special room will be built for the car in the house while she is relegated to living in the garage until further notice.
