How is the paint on the car?

Is the paint on the 2015 too soft? Anyone here already have rock chips?

Just curious if I should install a clear bra or put the money in the engine.

Got my clear bra installed yesterday after having the car for about a week, I already had a few rock chips in the front bumper just from highway driving. I'd definitely say get the clear bra its worth the $ in the long run.

Clear bra right away IMO. I Wish I had, 2 months and I've got chips all over. Worst ive had on a car. I've been super careful not to tailgate or follow trucks and still chipped up:frusty:

I did a full front clear bra (+a pillars, rockers and rear wheel arch flare + rear bumper) 3 weeks after purchasing her. Also vinyl roof and mirrors. Call it experience, I recall getting the worst paint chip (it was inch long gash) from a rock a few days before a clear bra appointment with my previous car - this time I took no chances and limited driving to the city avoiding the freeway until it was installed. Also, have had etching from bird poop in roof of prior cars.

Paint quality of my TH is fantastic, MUCH better than my BMW, hardly any orange peel and no factory issues. The paint looks thick, glossy and strong. Can't comment on hardness and scuff resistance yet. Not sure if this is because it's an extra cost paint.

I only handwash and wax (3 Times a year), other than that rely on my instant detailer/bird and bug spray + microfiber to remove spots of gunk etc -no carwash ever and quality detailers only so paint should be fine for decades. Yellow also hides dirt and swirls well.

Paint sucks. Bunch of chips on the frt fenders and hood already with 3 k and 3 mo. Chips already with wheel paint too.

I can't comment on the Mustang's paint, only have 2k miles, but I can't imagine it any different than the paint that was on my wife's 12 Focus SEL or my 13 Focus ST. The 12 went through 3 and the ST 2 New England winters and the paint held up very well. The Blue Candy on the SEL never suffered a paint chip and the Race Red on the ST had 2 small chips.

I would call this very durable paint.

I'd highly recommend getting the front wrapped. I've only had the car for a month and a half and I've already got rock chips. Doesn't help that Phoenix is rock chip city.

Rock chips on the front and hood w/3000 miles on it. Small scratch on both sides (both of them look like rocks bouncing off the road because its only the paint. No dents or traded paint.

Overall, it's the same crappy Eco-friendly paint that's used on every modern vehicle. Not much you can do except clear bra and hope for the best.

That seems off to me. A full front (including hood) should be more (1400-1500).
The computerized partial hoods kits are around 400-600 though.
