I went though this last year! My wife's Taurus was only 3 days with only 90 miles. Total damage was 10k for it,my 13 5.0 was 8k and my 04 cobra was 5k!
With all that damage, did you feel like it was back to as good as before it was beat up? I've seen some great repairs, but my case is pretty severe. Sounds like the amount your wife's Taurus had.

This makes me sick. Nothing constructive to add other than to say sorry you have to go thru this with your new car.

I feel your pain OP (not that my car is anything special)

I just got my S14 back from having all the body panels fixed and a total respray in satin black....only to have it hailed on for over an hour on my way home from a funeral in Kansas City this Tuesday.

The hood and trunk need to be replaced, and my roof will cost close to $1,000 to fix

Here's what it looked like when I got it back in February:

I don't want to post the afters...still sick to my stomach over it

Best of luck to you OP. Hopefully your insurance company takes good care of you

Hey all, thanks for the words of encouragement. I've been sulking like a little girl all week. I tried snapping some pics but with the black, it's hard to get a good angle. There's hundreds of dents in it. Looks like my car just got a bad case of cellulite.

My appointment is a week from today for the inspection. I'll update the thread on what the say. I'd imagine over 7-8k at least. I'm primarily worried it won't quite look the same after the repairs. I could care less about the $100 comp ded.

And lol at the video, I was seriously considering going all human shield on it at the time. I would pay to see the video of me tossing the shopping cart across the parking lot at the time (I did it respectfully, as in didn't get anywhere near any other vehicles and left it on its side so it wouldn't roll into another car :p ) ... was so pissed.
I've ever only had my friend pull a handful of dents at a time, but you literally could not tell they had been there prior.

I just texted my buddy who owns the Dent Clinic and told him about you. He said it is definitely possible to get it looking as good as new. He said it of course depends on who does it - use a reputable company.

Very sorry to hear of this coopdro. Its even worse given that your GT is black. Hoping that things get sorted out to your satisfaction.

Damn...I thought I was in the same boat last night. We had a storm roll through about 11:00 and it was a bad one. Just south of us the were reporting large damaging hail 2 hours earlier.
Just last May 23rd, we were hit with a mother of a hail storm at home. Did $7000 damage to the wifes 2013 Honda Pilot and $11,000 to my roof on the house.
I was ready to run out in the middle of it all with quilts and covers if I saw hail falling.
I might have left the hood uncovered if there were some good aftermarkets out there yet.
I'm in Chapin and yeah, I ran to my neighbor's (who isn't home during the week) moved his golf cart over and pulled my car into his garage for the night. That was an intense storm! I've got everything moved out the way still in case tomorrow and Saturday get that bad.

I'm hopeful based on the responses you guys have provided. I go in an hour for the initial inspection. I'll post back the amount they end up quoting me on.

I other news, ordered all the available lighting replacements for the interior and exterior from Diode Dynamics as well as the hood lifts from redline. Giving me something to look forward to once the dings are gone.

You're gonna love the DD lights - especially on the interior. The best mod I've done to my car.

So while at the DMV registering my new car (Black 2015 GT Premium PP) a storm rolled in with near golf ball sized hail. Nothing I could do but just stand there staring out the window watching my car get beat up for about 20 minutes. It felt like it was never going to end.

Even worse is that it was my work from home day and if it weren't for getting out to register the car, it would have been home safely in my garage.

The hood, roof, trunk, and some of the sides are dented up pretty bad. Also, a real great person :frusty: didn't put their shopping cart in a corral so when I finally got out to the car, there was a cart slammed up against the driver fender which left a nice dent and scratch.

I've been so demoralized ever since. My appointment with insurance is next Thursday.

Anyone with any tips on how to proceed with this particular car? I spent 6 years as a claims examiner so I'm familiar with PDR and the process but am wondering if there's anything else to know given this is brand flippin new.
If you would have gotten a convertible all you would of had to do was put your floor mats over your hood and trunk

Just got back, a little over 5 grand since they're gonna try to PDR everything (that's a ton of PDR). The only thing listed for replacement was the center brake light cover which the guy didn't even write initially on the estimate.

The PDR guys that are doing the repairs have an amazing reputation and said they'd personally go over it with a fine comb to make sure nothing is missed. I had much more confidence in them then I did the appraiser.

So now I'm in a Hyundai Veloster (this thing is a turd, I'm sorry to anyone that may own one but going from my GT to this thing is beyond underwhelming). I'll report back in about a week with the results.

Nick, you get hit with the hail too? If so, how bad?

Ok, got my car back this afternoon. As a whole in comparison to how it looked before repairs, it looks great.

With that said .... Here's where I could certainly use some fellow member insight.

I couldn't get a great look at the car since it had a lot of pollen on it at the shop. I got it home and wiped it down in my garage. I have two long florescent ceiling lights in my garage I used to go over it with (using angles). I've been able to pick up anywhere from 10-30 small dimples in the paint. These aren't big dents or anything like pre-repair, but they certainly weren't on the car when it was purchased. 1K on the odometer at time of storm. I'm making my first payment on the car today.

I've never had PDR done on any of my previous vehicles. Am I being over-critical? I asked my buddy if he could see anything and he couldn't but he was never trained in detecting flaws like I was when I worked in insurance. Also, the shop was quick to throw out that "You'll never be able to tell anything happened to it." when I was having the estimate done and dropping it off.

I could certainly use as many bits of insight as possible? I'm at least waiting until tomorrow before I call the shop back since I have a few "car guy" buddies at work I wanna bounce this off of as well.

The reunion of my car and I is mostly sweet, but there's still some bitterness mixed in there.
