Installed my Redlines yesterday. Took me about 20 minutes, very easy to do. I know others have said in the past about some hood flex when you initially first grab the hood to shut it. Is this something I should ever be concerned about or is it just the nature of having an aluminium hood? I open and shut it half a dozen times and I just don't go crazy on grabbing it and happy with the results and hood alignment, but just thought I'd ask about the flex. Thanks!

How do the redline hood struts compare to the Steeda kit?
Like I stated earlier in this thread, let me explain the benefits of our system:

1) Warranty: We have a 4 year warranty for our PLUS system and a 5 year warranty on our ELITE system. This includes all the components in our system including the gas springs. Other companies only offer a 1 year warranty.

2) Fit and finish: All of our brackets are Zinc plated and then Black powder coated. The bolts in our system are Stainless steel and then coated black, this offers the ultimate in corrosion protection. The aluminum inserts we use in our fender bracket assemblies are anodized red, even though you will never see them once installed, we want them to be the best.

3) Extras included :
a. Detailed full color instruction manual with every system.
b. Plastic drill guide for exact location. (Other companies give a piece of paper you have to cut out yourself)

c. ¾” Step bit to make a perfect hole in the battery cover (Not included with other companies kits).

4) Price: You get all the things mentioned above and our Hood QuickLIFT system costs 25% less!

There really is no comparison!

If you ordered recently, you should have the long brackets as shown in this picture. The length prevents the hood from flexing. Shut it as hard as you like! Redline FTW.

Yes I just ordered these 2 days ago so they are the longer bracket you have pictured. I just never seen first hand the other smaller bracket that was used, so I have nothing to compare it to flex wise. I do see a tiny bit of flex when the hood is open all the way and I grab it and pull it down those first few inches. Thanks though and glad it's nothing to be concerned about long term.

I have had or do have Redlines one every Mustang I own currently (2) 02GT,03Cobra,13GT,15GT The 02 is 14 years old and Ive had struts on there for 8. They still work to this day. I would never buy anything else period.

I went with Steeda. Full disclosure, Redline did not have the longer hood brackets out at the time I ordered. Both are superior options to the Ford Performance version.
