When is the last time you looked at the cost of Honda parts?I would take a Honda Accord over the Audi A4. Honda Accord can be had in manual transmission and I feel I could abuse it with impunity. If / when something breaks, parts are relatively cheap.
The Germans have a fair amount of difficulty making cars that pass the IIHS small overlap crash test. $37k + for a 4-banger is a lot of money to have a P(oor) rating:

It's not 1995 any more. And if you try and "abuse" a Honda, it will fall apart. Their transmissions are so weak that Honda had to release a TSB to tell owners not to skip gears when shifting, because the synchros are undersized and extremely weak. The Civic Si made national news due to the problems with the poorly built, weak 6 speed; never mind the automatics, which have the highest failure rate of any transmission in the entire auto industry.
