Putting the wife to work! We didn't make as much progress as I wanted but we only had 3 hours to work. Plugging along.

Besides breaking an intake bolt off in the back of the head the OPGs went back together smoothly. This weekend coming up we should start taking off the manifolds/exhaust to start on the Hellion Kit.

Apparently I was too busy playing grab ass with my wife during the job. I overlooked turning the engine over 360 degrees after installing the left side timing chains. The engine did not like trying to fire with the right side bank 180 degrees out of time.

On the plus side it only took 5 hours to re-do the timing chains. LOL.

Next up is to start installing the Hellion kit.

Progress is slower than I had hoped, I haven't had any time to work on it. Hopefully the left side header goes quicker than the right.

Keep after it!

The timing issue is a real one. When I assembled my new motor, I had it long blocked and went to bed.

In my dreams I wondered If I completed the cam timing properly.

Woke up next day and sure as shit I was waaaay off.

Glad I caught it!

Dang that's a beefy looking manifold! How much clearance do you have from the body? Looks really tight.

How much power are you looking to make? I'm not convinced those hellion headers are needed at anything less than 1200hp maybe even higher.

I'd think while not necessarily needed, there are definitely benefits. Specifically with pressure ratio.

Yeah, I don't think there are any negatives other than price and hassle when installing. I think most of the people with valve float and backpressure issues have them because of restrictions in the exhaust after the turbo. I'm 3 inch all the way back with boost actuated cutouts and I haven't had any problems with the stock manifolds (11-14 on the drivers side).

No worse then the factory manifold. You cannot remove the manifold without removing every stud. Alldata wants you to remove the ac line to get the factory manifold off.

To me HP was not the main factor. Being I have a Gen 3 the drivers manifold has to be replaced anyway as the Cat/Manifold are 1 piece. I would have had to buy a stock one from a Gen 2 to install. Since 1 manifold had to come off why not just replace both. Approx $700 more to switch to the 4 to 1 from Hellion IIRC
