I'm booked in with Brenspeed in about 10 days for Kooks long tubes, off-road X-pipe & 93 octane tune. I'll let you guys know how that turns out. I'm looking more for torque gains across the rev range than a big top-end number to allow me to stay in 4th more.

Maybe consider contacting Brenspeed about the longevity of E85;before you go in for your scheduled tune and see How you feel about it. The switch from 93 octane to E85R is a very noticeable difference. I have 93, Flex and E85R tunes and although I have run all three tunes, I will stay on Flex most of the time because of the varying consistency in ethanol content at any given gas station. Now whenever I want to wring the car out, I will definitely load my E85R tune for maximum performance.

I just have no interest in hunting around for E85. 93 is available pretty much everywhere around here. I'm not looking to wring out every last HP - if I was I would have bought the GT500. This car is plenty quick enough for me as it stands - I'm following the route I took with my last car which worked out well for me. I sold it just before getting the Shelby with 196,000 miles.

One of the biggest benefits of E isn't just more timing and more power, it's the added "safety" it affords to high compression motors. Think of it like widely (fairly) available race gas.

Can you car run on 93? Surely. But on a hot day, lugging the motor uphill it's much more prone to knock and damage the motor.

Furthermore, a driver can actually verify the quality of E-85. 93 you're at the mercy of several factors and it only takes one bad batch to nuke a 12:1 compression motor. That and you usually end up with some 87 contamination from the last user phenomenon with shared hoses/nozzles between the grades.

There's a good reason most tuners prefer (and at some point demand) E. It's just safer.

E85 also burns cleaner and I prefer and cleaner running engine. Check it out burn test here:

MY favorite part about E85 is I get the performance of VP100, etc. at $2.30 a gallon (compared to $9.90 a gallon for the race gas). The stuff is absolutely awesome!

Agreed. It does however thin your oil more, which makes sustained max temps even more important to burn off thin contaminants.

Just installed Corsa longtubes on my 350 in my garage on jack stands. Some of the easiest headers I’ve ever installed. Great clearance everywhere and used all the factory hardware. Car has a Lund E85R tune also.

Also, before tune and headers were installed I was running B line cat deletes and a proflex commander on full E85. Took a picture of my exhaust ports before putting the headers on. Got to love E85. Ports are nice and clean. Barely any carbon!

I'll be going ARH and E85 from my stock with B-line cat deletes in the future, you notice a difference going from the cat deletes to the headers?

Did headers and E85 tune at the same time. But it was a good difference compared to
The stock tune with the proflex and cat deletes.
