Assuming header tubes are truly equal, the UDUD and UDDU firing pattern won't matter because you're getting fire left, fire right, fire left, fire right, and the sound will smoothen back out. Here's a case in point:



C7 Vette with 180 firing headers. Adjust your ear a bit, since it does have 1.7L more displacement but you can get what's happening in principle.

Since the Voodoo fires on alternating banks any header is equivalent to 180 degree headers on a cross plane crank engine.

Maybe true for blown applications and a strictly min number perspective, but your 789 would probably gain 50 or more hp from the same setup with long tubes and no cats.

No Doubt in my mind that theres a significant gain to be had by installing catless headers on my car. Im just saying that on a stock gt350 the gains found would be hard to justify for the effort and $$ it needs.
My car is exceptionally loud now with only a resonator delete and sounds incredible... Im not sure it needs any improvement there lol

We know. We're discussing the effects equal length would have. The 180 header on that Vette was for what happens when you so get alternating bank firing.

Equal length is easier to tune and out performs unequal length.

I suppose if you had O2 sensors in each tube and could tune each cylinder there would not be a performance increase.

Again. We know lol. It's about even if we could get the possibility of having a set made with equal length since these cars have packaging challenges.

Sorry I should have read all 7 pages.

Anyway the S550 headers I've personally seen suck as far as tube length differences.

One of my mentors was Ed Henneman in Mineapolis, so I am biased.

Yes, generally speaking, it's not great. And like I mentioned before, Kooks made a set of true equal length for the S197 CCoyotes but they were a royal pain.

Honestly I think the Ford engineers did a good job on the stock shorty headers.

So Woman Driven just got her engine back from RPG and it has some custom RPG-spec cams in it. It’s a full build, so should be very rowdy. Can’t wait to see what happens with it and how many RPM it makes it top power at :)
