So 22’ Gt. Currently have a steeda H pipe and factory exhaust. Looking into headers and just wondering which I actually need to order. I see them with factory, aftermarket, or performance connect. Having it installed professionally but just want to make sure I order the correct one with no hiccups when it comes to install. Also I know it will be louder but is there a way to try to keep it down a bit. Love the way the H pipe increased the sound a little bit and just don’t want to be obnoxious when I start up every morning.

If you don't want it to be obnoxious on cold starts, you will need to replace that h pipe and put in some resonator of some sort.

Wrong
If you dont want loud cold starts, stay stock headers
Even high flow catted headers make a huge bump in volume

I'd stay away from headers and keep the H pipe. If you want more sound maybe Borla S Type Axle backs, but you may need bottle resonators after the H pipe. If you look at Borla cat backs they all come with bottle resonators. I see. A video of a 24 S650 with Borla Switchfire installed. Did it sound good. When it took off you could see it was quick. Had an A10 transmission. He upgraded to Borla S Type axle backs. Thing was loud as "F" hitting 120 decibels. So they installed Netami NT 1018 twist resonators. Brought loudness way down. Keep in mind, loudness doesn't equal fastness. Maybe fast ticket just blocks from home, even a P'd off neighbor who has nothing more to live for? Then there's less worse, the drone you have to live with, and money down the toilet having to correct things. I put a Switchfire on mine and my wife's Mach 1s, nothing else, and the sound great. Both are Procharged. The S550, especially the Mach 1 has a milder different sound than an S650. The S650 is a beast. Once they unlock it's ECU, S550 owners will flock to them.

If you want a moderate exhaust note keep your stock manifolds and go to a cat back exhaust with an H pipe. I have MBRP race on mine and I like the deep rich tone. It is still loud, If you want to keep it down just a little more use the street version. If you go to Headers it will be louder than you want. I just installed the Stainless Power catted headers and it is loud. I live in the country and only have two neighbors and they both have loud cars so nobody cares.

My MBRP exhaust system cost $575.00 for the cat back. Stainless Power Headers were another $1400.00

I've got stainless power catted headers, H pipe and the factory active exhaust mufflers and I'm very happy with it. Had just the H pipe for a long time and wanted more. Cold starts are absolutely brutal if you don't start it in quiet. If you do, it's not bad at all and won't piss off any neighbors. In normal mode once its warmed up, it sounds really good and isn't ear splitting unless you want it to be.

I just ordered a SCT X4 tuner for my mustang. After installing the Stainless Power headers and taking it out for a test drive I had the service engine light come on and the code is PO2001 and PO2005 both are intake related codes, the car has not been tuned yet, so I reached out to Auto Mafia Racing and ordered the tuner from them with a tune program. I think this will correct the code issuse.

I don't have a cold start video or an H Pipe but this can give you an idea of the sound after warming up.
While it is kinda of loud at startup, it isn't loud at all until you get on it.
What I do is start the car and idle around the corner and then let it warm up.

This is the 3 inch version of the same setup. This one is very loud at startup, but not bad at all until you get on it

The previous owner of mine installed an h-pipe, long tube headers, and Borla ATAK cat back, without the active exhaust. The car is stupid loud. I knew it was loud when I bought it, but it's annoying loud. I'm not going to invest money to modify it, just sharing with you since you posted about it.

You don't need a tune for headers it shouldn't affect anything intake related

You are wrong about not needing a tune and it does effect the flow of air I have a cold air intake, MBRP race cat back exhaust and now Stainless Power headers. The ECU still think that the o2 sensors are in the same place and the amount of air moving through the intake is greater than it was. That is why I have two codes now (PO2001 and PO2004) both are intake related codes.

The other mod's were on the car and it was fine but when I installed the headers and went over 3K rpms it gave me the codes.

I bought my GT with headers, no cats with generic chambered mufflers and some resonators (or glass packs). It didn't even have a crossover pipe. So I bought high flow cats, MBRP cat back with H pipe and valved exhaust thinking the cats and the valves would quiet it down. I was wrong. Cold starts are still obnoxious with the valves closed. The volume is totally livable under normally driving and on the highway...even with the valves open. But the cold starts and high RPMs this thing is LOUD.
