I just got my stainless power long tubes installed on my 2018 GT. It sounds amazing. Lund racing, wengerd, and palm beach dyno told me I do not need a tune for headers so I didn’t get one.

I know they are literally just metal pipes but is there a break in period for headers???? Or can I just drive it like I stole it. Smell is a little funky but Idk if that’s manufacturing oils.

When the oils burn off the smell will go away. No break in required.

So actually while there isn’t any “break in” period - rule of thumb with installing any new headers is this:

After initial or subsequent heat cycling, retighten all of the header bolts to proper toque spec. Check these same bolts again in 3-5 days. Usually you may need to retighten header bolts 1x-2x after a new header install then after that you’re good.

Ahh ok thanks. Question do i really need to go back to the shop I got the headers installed to re tighten? Or can I reach and do it myself and how do I know if they are tight enough? Only asking cuz the shop is 2 hrs away haha. I also called the guy and he said they were torqued down tough.

Hey there! No sir, no break in needed. And I'm confident that smell is those oils like you said. Should go away after all burns off!

If they used modern gaskets no re-torque required.
