I personally would not pay more than $600 for the install, but like others have said, you can find better prices if you shop around.

Here in CA, many shops won't do the install because it's not CARB legal, so there isn't too many options.

So, $920 to $1,150 for the install. That's way too high. That sounds like a shop here in Tampa that quotes book for everything and get little repeat business. I would say that the average is $450 to $600. Any higher than that, you are just raping people.
seriously that # is crazy. esp for a shop that does them all the time

300-500 seems to be the going rate. The initial cost + install prices are why I will be going with the MAK cat deletes. Easier to install, and similar results.
Drive down here and we can install headers for FREE!!!!

. I've been told that it's a little more difficult on the S550 compared to the S197.
I've done 4 s197 LT installs and to me the s550 is way easier. That's just my opinion though.;)

Around $500 seems stansrd for the most part. You find extremes on rare cases up or down but around there is the average.

My local exhaust shop told me $60 an hour and expect 4-6 hrs . $240-360 isn't bad at all, but i'm still contemplating doing it myself when i pick up a set.

I paid 400 but I was their first S550. They said it was more of a PITA than the S197 so they'll end up charging 500-550.

A PITA is saying the least. I've got 9 hrs into my install and I'm a mere 3 bolts from being finished. It's tedious, and that's coming from someone that works on cars for hobby. Granted I am working alone on it, and in a garage on jack stands.

I paid $600 here in Phoenix to install AFE Power LT Headers. I had the same shop do it that did my 3" Borla S-Type catback install. They even fabricated in a 3" performance connect using the Borla T-304 extensions for LT Headers. Took them 7 hours. Clean job and sounds great. Well worth the money.

..$0.. It's not that bad of an install. I install everything myself, but then again I don't trust perf. shops to change my oil.

Most shops are around $100 an hour around here, so you're looking at $500+.
