I've read that intake temps rise when idling but do the head temps look normal? Regular driving it's 190s. I don't usually see 220s unless driving under a heavy pedal.

No experience with the whipple, but my N/A 2016 stayed around 205 normally, and would get in the 220’s when idling in hot weather. My 350 is similar, although it tends to get hot quicker. I’m not a mechanic however. This is just my personal experience.

Whipple uses the stock 180 deg thermostat but they don’t mess with the fan settings much. Iirc the fan doesn’t come on full blast until at least 225 ect. If you decide to replace the tstat DO NOT use a motorad 160. The only one that seems to work better than stock is the reische 170, but at idle with the fan off even that won’t help much.

Try turning on the ac and see if the fan coming on draws the temp down any.

Seems to definitely be warmer than mine gets. I have the 170 degree thermostat and mine stays at 180 the entire time i am driving and has only creeped into 195 or so while in a busy drive through lol

The Whipple Tstat runs about that high on purpose for emissions. 220 is ok idle.
Id just drill in 2 bypass holes on the flange of the Whipple 160 and call it good.
You might want 170 tstat Reische if you are tracking it or drive apeshit on the street.

Not unusual at all. I live in Arizona and I've seen idle temps as high as 230 even with the Reische 170 stat. I've since switched to a stock stat with 2 small holes drilled in the diaphragm. Car seems to run a bit cooler now and much more stable during the cooler months.

Cylinder head temps are the highest because of all the heat that is absorbed in the aluminum above the combustion chambers. 205-240*F is normal. The more you idle or drive slow, the more heat will rise up above the cylinder head.

This is the best T for the coyote. You will see head temps of 190 cruising and 200 idling.

I’ve found with the reische I can keep the ect <185 pretty much all the time. I had to play with the fan settings quite a bit thought. If I try any colder than 185 then the fan comes on full blast way too often. As for Cht, it’s a function of ect and load.

My fans come on 40% at 195 and 100% at 200. They never run while I'm driving and idling the temps never get above 205

Update..drove it all week and the highest it would hit was roughly 226 when sitting then fans kick and bring it to low 200s driving it stays pretty steady at 195. Guess I never paid attention to it closely.

It has nothing to do with above the cylinder heads. The heat is absorbed into everything and makes its way into the cooling system. It’s not about above the combustion chamber.
I don’t think that you mean for it to sound this way but your saying that the heat will keep rising as long as he idles and it will not. At operating temperature And you cooling system operating properly it is removing the heat as fast as it is made or else you will over heat.
