ol' Teddy strikes again. Any chance we could try your MGW? I have the Steeda short-throw and I think @EmCel and @JohnnyGT might also be shifter-curious. Maybe you could make it a condition of sale that the dealer does the swap for you?
LOL. Sure thing - PM me. If those cars are still there once the refi closes (hopefully in a week) my wife and I will likely drive up there one morning. I really need to sit in the Recaros too - I'm 6'3" and pretty broad - so some Recaros feel great, others not so much.

The MGW is GREAT. Seriously - I've been driving stick shifts forever. My first car was a '67 SS Chevelle with a Muncie 4 speed (then a Saginaw, then another Muncie, then I learned to keep spare parts for the Muncie) I've used Hurst, B&M, etc etc.......the MGW is a seriously solid piece of engineering and it makes the MT82 and and ENTIRELY different animal.

And so it begins....

I submitted an online request about the car, and someone called me. I was able to confirm that I do qualify for all the rebates listed on the website, however, he did caution me that there is a $899 add-on for dealership-installed 'accessories'. Window tint, wheel locks, door edge guard film, and door handle cup film. That's quite a markup on a bunch of stick-on and screw-on stuff. Not loving the 'shove crap down your throat' way of doing business.

We'll see.....

I give them credit for telling you everything before going down there. Perhaps some of the extras can be negotiated down?

I've gone to dealers in which they have "stacked rebates". They'll give you a price and when you get there, they'll tell you don't qualify for "college graduate, first responder, essential worker" and so on.

The dealer I bought my 19GT from gave me a sales order with all details after the first email I sent to inquire about the car. Two weeks later, I went there with a bank check and another for taxes / DMV. Easy to deal with and no surprises on the dealer end.

Someone deliver me from temptation.
LOL, this is the wrong crowd for that.

... and those wheels will probably have to go
I like the wheels.

Yeah, I hate that kind of crap. I usually tell them to take it off (yeah, I know, you can't really take off the tint and re-use it, but that's not the point).

We all know (or we should) that those $900 worth of options <cough> cost them about $100 to do and is nothing but profit. Stick to your guns, and I'll bet they'll let loose of most of that to make the deal.

I was shopping for a GTI to replace the Mustang, and I worked two dealers to get a pretty good $3500 discount* on a new 2021, but decided at the end not to do it. The dealer called me back two days later offering another $1000 off. The other dealer also called me back and said "we will beat their price". Sometimes you never hear back, and you know the price is about as good as you can do. Other times, they will surprise you.

* - off of a $30K MSRP

A stealership will not offer you jack for a trade. I promise it doesn't matter what blue book says.

my 12 civic si 51k miles, mint. Dealership offered 7k trade. I laughed and said that it's worth more on blue book. They handed me a paper showing it worth 7k and said that's all it's worth.

I showed them an offer from carvana for 12.5k. They just said that that's contingent on condition. It's not. Unless you are grossly misrepresenting your car.

Vroom offered 11.3k

Before you trade. Get a carvana offer. You get check in hand before they take the car.

This is the future. I could sell the car myself for prob 13 or 14. But it would take months. Perfect detailed condition, haggling, low ball offers from a dozen people. Plus bank check fraud is a huge thing now. If you look online no one is selling their car private party anymore. Carvana gets so close it's not worth it.

This Mustang isn't perfect either, but it's the only Rapid Red 6-speed within a reasonable distance. Those stripes will be seeing the business end of a heat gun, and those wheels will probably have to go, but it wouldn't be my first time at a wheel rodeo. There are two more stripeless Rapid Reds around....Tennessee, and Florida, but I don't feel like driving the ST that far to trade it. If I sell it locally, I'll have to pay sales tax on the full purchase price of the Mustang, so.....no go.
Two things you can't avoid, death and taxes. You pay taxes when you purchase the car and you pay taxes when you sell it. Might as well get what you want. Life is short.

All this can be fixed with a manual transmission. I just can't believe I'm looking. The ST is a fantastic car. But the Mustang is better.

Well, this was good for a laugh, anyway. That's some good crack. He texted me, and I thanked him for his time, and that I have all the information I need. He texted back.....ignored.

I actually ordered a Steeda race shifter during the Black Friday sale. Took a few months to get here and now it's waiting to get installed. Thanks for looking out though.

Quality shifter. You won’t be disappointed with its performance.
