Someone deliver me from temptation. The one thing I didn't like about my 2018 was that 10-speed. This would sure fix that issue.
Used car values are insane right now. I paid $17,000 for the Focus a year ago. Combine that with great leftover 2020 discounts, and it's so tempting.

looks like a decent deal. Ask around on Vroom/Carvana etc to see if you can't get a bit more on trade-in.

I can see both sides of the coin. Autos are better for all out drag racing IMO, but manuals are more fun on the street. I’ve had an auto Mustang before with a massaged transmission and it was fun for a short while on the street and then it became boring. Eight of the nine Mustangs I’ve had were manuals.

The convertible (my significant other's car) doesn't do it as much as my coupe did, but it was very jerky and indecisive under certain circumstances. It had an issue early on that required a few days in the shop and a re-flash, but it never acted right. The most annoying behavior was the downshifting if you have to stop somewhat quickly, like when you're cruising along at 45mph and the light turns yellow, and you can't really justify running it, so you brake....then there's 5-6 jerks as it downshifts gear by gear until it hits 1st. I was sick of that pretty early on. My sister-in-law's 2017 (6A) doesn't do any of that. The convertible does it, but it's not my daily, so I don't care. It also takes forever to transition from R-D, D-R. I know they're trying to make it 'smooth' but that lag is ridiculous.

All this can be fixed with a manual transmission. I just can't believe I'm looking. The ST is a fantastic car. But the Mustang is better.

If I sell it outright, I would have to pay tax on the full purchase price of the Mustang. That math screws you in Texas.

I feel your pain. Vroom offered me what I paid for my '19 GT Base 6 speed back in 9/19. So I thought - the only way I'd get rid of it, is if I could find a new '20 PP1 6 speed with digital cluster and Recaro seats. What are the odds of finding one of those. I shouldn't have looked. A lot about an hour away has a Gray and a Red with those exact options. Only thing I don't like - they both have spoiler delete. But since I added a match painted PP1 spoiler to my '19 - I could install the original spoiler and have mine painted for the new car. The only two things holding me back right now - we're in the middle of a refi on the house and I would HAVE to remove my MGW shifter and install the stock and then install the MGW in the new car. First world problems.

This Mustang isn't perfect either, but it's the only Rapid Red 6-speed within a reasonable distance. Those stripes will be seeing the business end of a heat gun, and those wheels will probably have to go, but it wouldn't be my first time at a wheel rodeo. There are two more stripeless Rapid Reds around....Tennessee, and Florida, but I don't feel like driving the ST that far to trade it. If I sell it locally, I'll have to pay sales tax on the full purchase price of the Mustang, so.....no go.

If it's what you want, go for it!

I had an 18GT with the A10. Beautiful car and fully loaded. But, the A10, while working well, didn't suit me the best.

I recently bought a 19GT, with M6, and thoroughly enjoy shifting the gears, every time.

My suggestion, test drive it and follow your gut. I look forward to your experience.

Too many gears! All I need is 1 gear! Go!
So a CVT then? lol

In theory they would be great as you can just lock them to the best RPM and hold it which adding gears to an auto is trying to do. Shame they are not durable enough.

Well, it's tough because the car is in Austin. I'm thinking about finding a local 6-speed in any color to go drive to see if I like it. I've definitely settled on Rapid Red, and there's just not one in Dallas.

ol' Teddy strikes again. Any chance we could try your MGW? I have the Steeda short-throw and I think @EmCel and @JohnnyGT might also be shifter-curious. Maybe you could make it a condition of sale that the dealer does the swap for you?
